Make The Quality Of Your Sleep A Priority For 2023
Make the quality of your sleep a priority for 2023.
Sleep is a vital part of our daily routine and plays a critical role in supporting our mental and physical health.
During sleep, our body repairs and regenerates tissues, consolidates memories and clears out toxins from the brain.
In addition to its physical benefits, sleep is also incredibly important in supporting our mental wellbeing.
A good night's sleep can benefit our memory, our mood, our concentration, and has a huge impact on our decision making process.
On the other hand, sleep deprivation has a huge impact on our performance.
It's been shown that a lack of sleep impairs cognitive function, decreases productivity, and increases the chance of accidents and errors being made.
So how much sleep should we get? Or what is the optimal number of hours that we should be aiming for?
Well, the National Sleep Foundation recommends that an adult should get between seven and nine hours of sleep per night.

Although this does change depending on your age, your lifestyle, and your overall health.
Sleep is going to be a massive talking point in 2023 and the number one thing you can do to improve your quality of sleep is think about your sleeping environment.
Everyone is different so you need to look at what the optimal time of night for you to go to bed is, the optimal number of hours sleep for you, how you like it in terms of the noise, in terms of the temperature, and in terms of the light into the room. It's really important to understand yourself so that you can really optimise your own sleep pattern. Some other tips that we can give you here are to have a sleep schedule.
That's writing down when you go to bed, when you wake up, how you feel, and trying to track your sleep over a week to make sure that on average you're getting enough.
Something else you can do is this new term of sleep hygiene.
This is where we are looking at again, the schedule and the environment, but really we're talking about what you eat and drink before bed and when, and also the screen time you have before bed.
Ideally, you'd have no screen time an hour before, and potentially before that you'd have the blue glasses on to really stop that light going into your eye.
Sleep is essential for human performance and wellbeing.
By getting enough quality sleep, you are benefiting your physical and mental health, and this is another example of how your environment is dictating your performance.
