California Chassis Regulations Set to Reshape Motorhome Market in 2025?

California’s 2025 Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) regulation, designed to reduce emissions, could have a significant impact on the motorhome industry. The rule requires vehicles weighing over 8,500 pounds to meet zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) standards, yet no ZEV chassis currently exist for motorhomes, leaving manufacturers grappling with compliance challenges. While California aims to improve air quality and public health, the RV Industry Association (RVIA) has expressed concerns over the lack of feasible options for larger motorhomes. RVIA is actively lobbying for exemptions or delays and engaging with California regulators to address the issue. This regulation may influence the motorhome market nationwide, as ten other states are set to adopt similar policies. Non-compliant vehicles manufactured after 2024 will not be registrable in California, though those already in inventory can still be sold in other states. Amid this push for sustainability, the RV industry is striving to identify practical solutions.

Council Evaluates Plans for Proposed Camping Site Near Princeton

The project, which included four glamping pods, had received initial approval from local authorities but faced opposition over concerns about the site’s boggy terrain and inadequate drainage. Aimed at supplementing a family farm’s income, the proposal was criticized for potentially harming the region’s natural beauty and fostering urbanization. Critics noted that the pods’ large size and resemblance to holiday homes conflicted with the area’s development goals. This decision highlights an increasing emphasis on safeguarding rural landscapes in tourism planning.
