Meet Chewbie: Hi-Chew’s Playful New Mascot Takes the Spotlight!

In a world where mascots bring brands to life, Hi-Chew has taken a bold, fun step with their newest character—Chewbie. Created to embody everything sweet, mischievous, and delightfully curious about the Hi-Chew brand, Chewbie is making waves with a personality as vibrant as the candy itself. Here’s a look at how we at Shapes & Forms helped bring this quirky character to life alongside GigaSavvy, from the drawing board to a grand debut in the heart of New York City.

Shapes & Forms

Bringing Chewbie’s personality to life was all about capturing his playful and mischievous nature in a way that felt authentic and endearing. From the start, we knew Chewbie had to be more than just a character; he needed to radiate the spontaneity and fun that Hi-Chew represents. We focused on crafting his movements, expressions, and interactions to reflect his curious, carefree attitude. Chewbie’s derpy, round, and soft persona invites you to join in on the fun.

Bringing Chewbie to life on a 3D billboard in the heart of New York City was a challenge we were excited to tackle. Our goal was to make him feel like he was jumping off the screen, fully engaging with the audience in his mischievous, larger-than-life way. The 3D effect allowed Chewbie to break beyond the billboard’s boundaries, as if he were teetering on the edge of reality—reaching out to passersby, waving, and showing them where to grab free candy. The depth and texture we built into the animation gave Chewbie a tangible presence on the streets of NYC, bringing Hi-Chew’s playful energy to life in a way that was not only immersive but undeniably fun.

Thomas Knight nice animation, but it is not shown on a 3D billboard. It is a normal LED Wall and and due content like yours, you can have a 3D perspective, when seen from the sweet spot.

I love the way this guy plays out as a 3-D giant! That shot of him sticking his head out over New York City is killer!
