Memes Matter...Use Your Law Skills to Make More Money 🤣⚖️
It’s no secret that over the last few years, video content and social media platforms such as TikTok are taking the marketing world as we know it by storm…
This week’s guest says it’s vital that the law industry embraces this new digital age to continue to inspire, grow and ultimately, generate new business!
Back in 2019, Matt Margolis was an attorney at a law firm…burnt out and frustrated. 😞
Between managing an intense work schedule, he’d post funny law-related content on social media. 😂
Unfortunately, the partners at his firm weren’t too happy about it.
At this point, most would’ve stopped posting….NOT MATT!
And much to Matt’s SURPRISE, he found other lawyers, law students, paralegals, legal assistants, legal operations professionals in the legal industry who had voiced similar frustrations.
Those same folks shared their experiences and stories.
There was a whole community out there of people who felt that same way Matt did.
So he kept posting….BRAVE move!
He started making more jokes. More memes. More TikTok’s.
One of his recent Twitter posts received over 140,000 likes!
By producing more content he saw more and more people relate and share their perspectives.
Eventually, the community led him to new roles and a move away from the traditional career path of a lawyer.
Matt landed the cool role of Head of Community at Lawtrades - a new work model empowering legal professionals to monetise their skills. 👏🏼
Matt is now responsible for creating engaging content for the legal community and to help grow their fantastic platform with the great people who are already a part of it!
I had an absolute blast chatting with Matt and learning more about his journey on our Legally Speaking Podcast ™️.

👉 The significance of community in the legal industry
👉 How to become a creative content creator in the law space

Weekly Alumni Guests Shoutouts
1) I. Stephanie Boyce - President of The Law Society
Stephanie became the 177th, the sixth female, the first black office holder, the first person of colour and the second in-house solicitor in almost fifty years to become president of The Law Society of England and Wales. ⚖️
It was an absolute honour to attend The President’s special fundraising gala dinner last week. This was to continue to support and highlight the essential work of Stephanie’s nominated presidential charities including LawCare - Legal mental health & wellbeing charity, The Sutton Trust and The Access to Justice Foundation.
The money raised from the event will help to fund the vital services and support they provide in making a difference to lives!
As many will know I am passionate about raising awareness around mental health having lost family members over the years.
Thanks to the wonderful Elizabeth Rimmer, who made it possible for me to join the Lawcare table. I was in fine company joining the wonderful Justin Farrance, Joanna Hughes, Julian Richard, Amir Ali OBE and many others.
The event was wonderfully hosted by Christina Blacklaws (she/her).
Stephanie’s mission…to leave the legal profession more diverse and inclusive than the one she entered.
As Stephanie presidency concludes next month; she has achieved so much and contributed to many great changes in the legal profession!
Kudos to Stephanie; thank you for all you have done and for a wonderful memorable event.
