MONDAY MUSINGS SEASON 2 - EPISODE 291

#HanumanPhenomenon
What is #HanumanPhenomenon?
Each human who has taken birth in this wonderful world comes to this world with tremendous potential, which can be harnessed exponentially, but many of us are afflicted with not one but many curses that we forget and ignore our abundant potential.
We face curses in many forms. Some of these curses are constant negative vibes—negative feedback, fear, trauma, moving with negative minded people, constant criticism, lethargy, etc. Anybody will forget their power (i.e. lose confidence) under the influence of these curses until a mentor like Jambavan arrives. Good mentors can create a ‘wow effect’ even on those who suffer from curses ie ‘low confidence’.
Being around negative people can drain your energy and cause you to feel trapped and overwhelmed. Learning to recognize the negative people in your life, and finding ways to avoid them, will result in a more sustainable and satisfying life for you. Surround yourself with Jambavans who bring out the best in you.
Mythology in the Indian context is still a part of our lives, believed and beloved. Indian Literature have tremendous hold and power over our people. They are not only stories of Dharma but of ‘positive living’.
Negative Thinking Is Akin to Carrying 20 Bags on your Luggage
Dr. Kalam had positive impacts from many of his mentors and Dr. Brahma Prakash was one of them. He once told Kalam, “Kalam, if you see this world as mean and rude, it will interfere with your concentration. Negative thinking is like carrying 20 bags of luggage on a trip. The baggage will make your trip miserable, and progress will be slow.”
Negative Feelings hinder Our Potential
I find this quote from Bhagavad Gita, as a reinforcement of the belief that negative thinking is a stumbling block for growth.
धूमेनाव्रियते वह्निर्यथादर्शो मलेन च | यथोल्बेनावृतो गर्भस्तथा तेनेदमावृतम् || Bhagavad Gita 3.38||
Translation - As fire is covered by smoke, a mirror is covered by dust, as the womb covers the embryo, the living entity is covered by different degrees of impurity.
Unleashing the fire in us
It is like a dissuading curse—everything pure has a covering that can often be misleading. Fire is covered with smoke, which prevents us from knowing the power of fire and if a mirror is covered in the sheath of dust, we cannot see what it is reflecting before removing the dust. Embryo covered by the womb is an analogy illustrating ‘helpless situation’. The child in the womb is helpless that it cannot even move. Similarly, ‘self-confidence’ is subdued by the negative influencers such as doubt, fear, lethargy, the influence of negative minded people, lack of passion for work, lack of vision, etc.
Fire and Mirror in Management Ideals
Many interpretations of the above sloka translates the cover as desire rather than impurities. Lord Krishna has left the interpretation open by using the word tena, which simply means 'by that'. Fire and Mirror are often used to describe management ideals. Fire compares unleashed power and mirror self-introspection. Thus ‘Tena’ in this sloka more aptly describes negative thoughts in my opinion.
We must recognize these negative influences and must get rid of them for self-realization to unleash the ‘firepower’. It is possible that we can introspect and recognize these negative influencers and transform ourselves.

At 71, Pankaj Chimanlal Seth, a proud native of Junagadh and now a resident of Ahmedabad, embodies the true spirit of selfless service. After retiring in 2012 as a Class-2 officer with 35 years of dedicated service, most would have chosen a life of ease and relaxation. Yet, Seth took a different path—one that led him to serve thousands.
In 2013, Seth founded the Give for Ever Foundation. The vision was clear: to uplift the most vulnerable—senior citizens, the disabled, widows, and others in dire need of support. Since its inception, the foundation has become a beacon of hope for thousands, offering them a life of dignity.
The foundation’s initiatives include distribution of food grains, clothing, blankets, walking sticks, wheelchairs, etc. Seth’s vision extends beyond material support.
“We also arrange religious tours for women and senior citizens, and birthday celebrations at elderly homes. Additionally, we take underprivileged children to movie outings and amusement park visits,” he explains.
Perhaps the most impactful of the foundation’s initiatives is the ‘Swa-Rojgar Sahay Yojna’. This initiative enables individuals to start small businesses or set up home-based work environments, ensuring sustainable income for families. Operating with transparency and integrity, Seth emphasises, “We neither charge nor pay any fees to our supporters, volunteers, or coordinators. What matters most is that every gift, whether in cash or kind, reaches the beneficiary fully, as per the giver’s wishes.”
Take for instance, the story of Jagdish Parmar, a farm labourer from Banaskantha. With dreams of providing a better future for his family, he reached out to the foundation for help in acquiring a cow to start a dairy business. Today, Jagdish has transformed his life, allowing him to earn a stable income.
The impact of Give for Ever doesn’t stop there. A labourer from Rajpur village, burdened by the challenges of being physically challenged and living with HIV, dreamed of giving his daughter a wedding she would cherish. Thanks to the foundation’s support, his dream became a reality.
Pankaj Seth and the Give for Ever Foundation have become symbols of hope. Through their unwavering commitment, they continue to uplift society, one life at a time.
