Moving Forward Within Publishing

Moving Forward Within Publishing

Have you ever tried to drive in a new city without a roadmap? Even without factoring in time constraints, additional traffic clogging up your rearview mirrors, pedestrians to worry about, and one-way, no-way, and bizarre lane patterns, the idea is enough to get your heart racing, isn’t it? Let’s not even talk about adding construction and closed down streets you need to take into the mix.

Publishing can feel a lot like driving in an unfamiliar city, even if you’ve been around the block before. The landscape feels as though it’s constantly changing; what was a clear “path” towards the end goal is now blocked by a change in management, or an updated set of rules and regulations. File type requirements, and sizes, change what feels like weekly, and that’s AFTER you’ve done the hard work of even writing the book! In the chaos, it can be difficult to know what’s the best path forward, or if there even is one real way to do it. You’ve got a story to tell, and you know the world will be all the better for it  once your work is set free.

The good news? There’s not just one way to get your work published. Between self-publishing, hybrid publishing, and traditional publishing, there’s never been a better time to get your story into the hands of others. Because of the constant changes, those in the industry are challenged to uncover new ways to make publishing effective and efficient. There are insights and strategies in place to help navigate the publishing industry to help bring your work to life. I’ve written about the ones, in my years of working in publishing, that work the best and am bringing them now--to you--in my latest book Publish Your Purpose: A Step-by-Step Guide to Write, Publish, and Grow Your Big Idea. There, you’ll find a roadmap to get you not only through the publishing process, but through the writing process as well. Say goodbye to writer’s block!

It’s time to share your story with the world. Your thoughts matter, your views matter. You matter.

The idea of publishing is super daunting, but a total dream goal. This book sounds like a great resource to getting out there, and I will definitely have to keep it in mind!
