Musings on Nigeria's Politicians:

Before an election, Nigeria's politicians eat a HUMBLE PIE when canvassing for electorates' votes. When they get the mandate, they devour the largest share of the NATIONAL CAKE, leaving crumbs for the electorates.

They talk about the need for people to make the necessary sacrifice to take the country forward, yet they indulge in all kinds of vice. They employ all sorts of devices to dim the light of our collective Nigerian dream. The longest they have ever planned for is eight years and, perhaps, that is the reason why people will hate them for years, without end. But whose fault is it? Theirs or ours!

Promises are all we ever get...and when they give reports, all we hear is poor results garnished with lots of excuses. They hop from one party to another as political prostitutes, and the people are too gullible to know that those who betray their parties cannot be trusted not to betray a country!

I thought that the character of a man matters more than his affluence, but we use such ethos selectively. We make a travesty of democratic principles and birth a nation of tragicomedy, where a thief is a chief and justice, that was hitherto blind, has regained its sight.

Let no one blame another, we are all in the same boat of shame. We respect men by the sizes of their pocket, not by the sanctity of their character. We hail those who fail us and flail us with the whip of economic poverty, educational backwardness, inadequate health facilities and a thousand more woes.

O I lament for my dear NigeriaWhere the dreams of a child becomes a mirage soon as he attains adulthood because some have eaten the cake of the unborn childWhere the good people are endangered, and the dangerous people are conserved through their cult of greed and circle of infamy. They that should act as our guide to greatness are full of guile that sends us down the pit of pity.

The day will come when we will realise that it is pointless to prayAnd that it is better we stop digging our own national grave

Through our individual actions, here, near or far away

The greatness we crave

Is not in just what we say

But in how we will act from now onwards to save

Our dear Nigeria from the hands of these savages

And to save them from themselves

God bless Nigeria; God bless its people!
