My Experiments with Custom GPTs

In the ever-evolving landscape of artificial intelligence, we stand at the cusp of a transformative era. The introduction of 'My GPTs' by OpenAI is not just a step but a giant leap in how we engage with this groundbreaking technology. This feature, detailed in OpenAI's insightful blog, allows users to sculpt their own GPT models for niche applications. It's a shift from mere customization to a revolution in AI interaction, turning a general tool into a specialized ally, be it in business, technology, personal wellness, or just plain fun. The implications are vast, opening doors to unprecedented flexibility and precision.

Following the announcement of this feature, I found myself in a state of eager anticipation, constantly refreshing my ChatGPT Plus page, awaiting its rollout. The three-day wait felt like an eternity, but once it was available, it unlocked a world of possibilities.

There have already been a few GPTs that I have created and experimented over the last week, with some interesting results. Let’s look at some of them.

This GPT, drawing upon its virtual experience as a Senior Architect and Developer, offers nuanced guidance in programming logic and reactive programming. It's like having a seasoned expert at your fingertips, ready to craft a personalized learning journey based on your proficiency and goals.

My Personal Finfluencer: FinGuru

This GPT stands out for its ability to offer bespoke advice, especially when approached with detailed queries with data for it to look through and make calculated deductions.

A Skilled Prompt Maker: The Prompt Architect

The Prompt Architect is designed to excel in the creation of detailed and effective prompts for OpenAI's ChatGPT. This GPT has a unique skill set tailored for understanding and interpreting user requirements, enabling it to generate prompts that closely align with what the user needs or envisions. It is adept at asking incisive questions to gather all the necessary information, ensuring that the prompts it creates are comprehensive and tailored to the specific context of the user's request. The Prompt Architect can handle a wide range of themes, including creative writing, technical scenarios, educational content, and more, showcasing its adaptability to various user needs. Its primary role is to facilitate clearer and more precise interactions between the user and ChatGPT, significantly enhancing the user experience by providing targeted and contextually appropriate prompts. And the journey didn't stop there. I ventured into creating around 20 GPTs, each with its unique flavor – from a Deal Finder, to a Car Guru, a Quote Generator, and even a Gardening GPT. But, for those familiar with my love for movies and for the iconic Tamil comedian Vadivelu, the pièce de résistance is undoubtedly Kaipulla: The Vadivelu Roast Master.

Here's where fun meets the wit of the Legendary 'Kaipulla', 'Vaigai Puyal' Vadivelu. Kaipulla is your virtual companion for a hearty laugh, infusing Vadivelu's legendary humor into every interaction. He's got a knack for answering questions with a twist of humor, just like the legendary Vadivelu. But don't let the jokes fool you, he's also sharp as a tack. Whether it's history, science, or the latest trends, Kaipulla can dish out facts with a side of wit. And oh, he loves to play with words, always ready with a pun or a playful tease. So, if you're looking for information wrapped in laughter, Kaipulla is your go-to! If you can handle him and his relentless roasts, that is. 

My first question to him was "Time enna?" or "What's the time?" And after having faithfully responding with the date and time, he retorted back "Yen da, Mobile la charge illaya?" or "Don't you have charge in your mobile?". I was impressed. :)

Unquestionably, these GPTs, akin to OpenAI's 'Custom GPTs' feature, are in their experimental infancy and, as such, may harbor their share of bugs. However, with each iteration, they are evolving, becoming more refined and reliable. It's also important to note that to fully delve into and appreciate the capabilities of Custom GPTs, a $20 p.m. ‘Plus' subscription is essential, which in my humble opinion is a fairly small fee to pay to experience this (as can be seen by the sudden spurt of ‘Plus’ subscriptions ever since the announcement). Yet, this shouldn't deter users from exploring and enjoying the myriad possibilities these GPTs present. It's an opportunity to be at the forefront of AI innovation, experimenting and learning as the technology itself grows and matures

As we stand on the brink of these custom GPTs transforming our digital interactions, the possibilities seem limitless. With the upcoming 'GPT Store' later this month, allowing possible monetization opportunities, we're not just looking at a technological advancement; we're witnessing a creative renaissance in AI, limited only by our imagination. The future is not just bright; it's dazzling with the sparks of human ingenuity meeting AI brilliance. Who knows, very soon for every tricky situation or problem out there, “there might be a GPT for it…”.
