National Insurance Awareness Day

National Insurance Awareness Day

Whether it’s a car crash, hurricane, flood or some other loss event insurance companies are there to minimize the harsh blows dealt by catastrophes and accidents.

June 28 marks National Insurance Awareness Day, highlighting the importance of insuring for life’s unexpected events. Insurance policies serve as one of the best forms of security, covering our loved ones and helping us recover from financial losses. Insurance agents are a tremendous resource in helping customers understand how to best protect themselves from risks that could otherwise result in overwhelming personal costs.

The insurance industry is a vital part of the economy, employing more than 2.86 million people in the United States. Data shows auto insurance companies handle nearly 9 million claims a year, incurring an average of $4,601 in losses per claim according to a 2022 report from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. An estimated 3.5 million home insurance claims are filed each year — roughly one in 20 homes — dealing with property damage caused by fires, wind, hail, and water.

As the claims process has been complicated by supply chain issues and other economic factors, insurance employees are working harder than ever to efficiently handle claims and assist customers in getting repairs completed, totaled items replaced, or improving lives with financial payments in times of injury.

National Insurance Awareness Day serves as a reminder for families and businesses to engage with their trusted insurance representative to revisit their insurance policies to ensure they are properly covered.

In honor of National Insurance Awareness Day, Solera wants to recognize everyone working across the insurance industry for what they do to lighten the load on their customers during times of financial loss.
