New York Fashion Week Spring Summer 2017: The 3 directional Mega Trends to know about
1_ Boogie #WONDERLAND & Multicoloured designs
Multi coloured wonder of brights and yellow/ mustard tones. The mixing of bold block colours was demure and chic at the Hugo Boss show, with corbalt blue and striking jade green accessories. Let the colour do the talking.
For Jeremy Scott, models walked down the runway with a wardrobe that would make an ice lolly feel like a wallflower. Rainbow brite colour wheels worked their magic. There was a tone of disco diva too with his kitsch shirt dresses, with loud prints on them, and the bouffant bob wigs and make up.
"I was just really thinking about New York City folklore, the early ’80s that I’ve read about in books and magazines", Scott said backstage. "These fun party scenes and these extravagant characters going around on the Lower East Side, and Times Square being seedy and having X-rated theaters."
And, indeed some of his design were maybe a tad too X rated and graphic. But, there was as much colour as there was black with zips. "I wanted to capture this mood, this mix of punk and S&M with kind of a disco glamour, but sci-fi at the same time."
Marc Jacobs models were very 80's Boy George theatrical, with sequins and multi coloured dreadlocked hair. Tuning in to the 90's rave frequency.
Which brings us to that other vintage thread, sporty.
2_ #SPORTY FEMININE
Soft and sporty dresses and floaty fabrics.
Lacoste's Miro-esque bellissima hooded dress with a loose tying belt is the perfect unison of urban active wear and chic bold prints.
Alexander Wang and Adidas : the collaboration between Adidas Originals and Alexander Wang was finally made official with the introduction of the collection on the runway in New.
Stella McCartney's Adidas range for the 2012 GB Olympic Games was first time in the history of the games that a leading fashion designer has designed the apparel for a particular country’s team across all competitions for both the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Wall Street Journal has reported that businessmen and women have become more interested in pairing sporty items, such as hoodies or puffer vests, with tailored clothing than before. And, 2016, both Marie Claire France and Elle UK both shot sporty fashion stories.
So casual is becoming glammed up. Sporty becomes sassy. We're digging the trend of experimental tailoring.
And, a graphic splash of bold print takes over.
