The News is Grim

It comes as no surprise to anyone in the newspaper industry that this is an increasingly difficult long-term career path. Consider the following from NiemanLab:

  • Since 2022 over 33% of newspapers have ceased publication.
  • Since 2023, 500 of the largest daily and weekly newspapers have lost over 2 million readers.
  • There are now fewer than 100,000 people employed in the newspaper industry overall.

Newspaper Professionals Struggle With Limiting Beliefs

What do you do when the occupation you've held for most, or all of your career is no longer a viable long-term career path, and you have many working years left ahead of you?

Many newspaper professionals feel stuck and spend much of their time preparing for another consolidation, downsizing, and layoff knowing that the next gig is likely to end the same way, and their work life is now an unending series of starts and premature finishes.

You probably don't know where to go from here, right?

Business Ownership Should Be Your Next Move!

Despite how beaten up you likely feel right now, throughout your career you have cultivated an impressive business acumen that sets you up beautifully for more than just another short-term newspaper job.

You know how to lead a local business. You know how to build and lead exceptional teams. You've generated revenue, controlled expenses, and delivered on financial expectations. You are exactly the kind of candidate that outstanding franchises are looking for to become their next owner in your market.

Hi, My Name is Will.

I entered the newspaper industry in 1995 and over the next 24 years worked for seven different newspapers around the country. I endured three job losses between 2009 and 2019 due to position eliminations or leadership changes. In 2019 I decided enough was enough and retired from the industry at the age of 50 to begin building my own businesses. I know what you've been through and how you're feeling.

Today I am the founder and president of the award-winning Quantum Franchise Group and Media Executive Exit Options. I lead a growing team of 13 franchise consultants around the country. We represent over 800 franchises across 37 different industries. Our role is to help aspiring entrepreneurs find, qualify for, fund, and be awarded local businesses with some of the best franchise systems in the country.

Why Franchising?

You've likely heard some scary statistics about the failure rate for new business startups. But franchising is the safest, most predictable path to business ownership, with an 80+% retention rate from year to year, for several reasons.

  • An established proof of concept.
  • Immediate brand recognition.
  • Proven and replicated business systems.
  • Comprehensive training and ongoing support.
  • Reduced startup expenses leading to a quicker ramp up to positive cash flow.

It's time for you to seriously consider a change, right?

At Quantum Franchise Group we're committed to helping beleaguered newspaper executives transition away from the industry and become thriving franchise owners in their market. We'll post articles regularly, featuring ideal franchises for men and women from tne media industry, and how to begin the process of being awarded your territory.

Begin the journey now by visiting Media Exit Options.

For those who have grown weary of being used up and under appreciated, please consider a course-correction to provide a new focus and financial security for your family and community. Working with William afforded me, a longtime media professional, the opportunity to put my skills to work on building a new business that has energized me and provided great satisfaction. Our company is growing, we have added employees, and we are able to make a difference for our clients and our community.
