NLP – Advanced Communication Skills for Business and Coaching
Hello and welcome back!
I'm Fiona Campbell, and it's a pleasure to welcome back to our newsletter. In this edition we explore the pivotal role of Emotional Intelligence in leadership and coaching.
Building on our previous discussion about the alignment of personal values with your work environment, we now turn our focus to how Emotional Intelligence can profoundly influence your effectiveness as a leader or coach. Learn more about Emotional Intelligence, its core competencies, and how enhancing these skills can lead to more meaningful interactions, better decision-making, and stronger leadership in any professional scenario.
Emotional Intelligence for Leading and Coaching
Daniel Goleman introduced his Emotional Quotient Behavioural Model in his 1995 book Emotional Intelligence.
The early Emotional Intelligence theory was originally developed during the 1970s and 80s by the work and writings of psychologists Howard Gardner (Harvard), Peter Salovey (Yale) and John ‘Jack’ Mayer (New Hampshire).
Emotional intelligence is the ability to notice, manage, understand, and use your emotions in positive ways.
Being emotionally intelligent helps you to read other people’s emotions and become more equipped for navigating the many social complexities within the workplace.
To be a successful business leader of coach you need to be able to make the most of any situations and effectively manage relationships in the workplace.
Developing your Emotional Intelligence skills helps you to remain calm, handle stress and pressure of the workplace well, and manage relationships with your colleagues.
