Last week was Non-binary Awareness Week, a global recognition of individuals who do not completely identify as male or female. Non-binary includes those who feel they do not fit into the societal expectation that everyone is either a man or a woman, boy or girl. This does not mean that they believe in gender stereotypes or that men and women have to conform to certain behaviours. Rather, it is about their personal connection to the concept of gender identity.
