The Not-A-Weenie New Year!

The Not-A-Weenie New Year!

As I write this lobsters are in the oven (They told me to tell you happy 2022 before they went in), champagne is chilling in the freezer, and my dad is shucking the oysters that we harvested this afternoon from Cape Cod Bay.

And while I'm not needed in the kitchen, I wanted to pop over here and tell you all, Happy New Years.

As we step, tentatively into 2022, uncertain of how it's going to go... but with a pretty good guess that this roller coaster ride will continue, I want to remind you of a few things.

1. While yes, it is super easy to feel at the mercy of the world, of uncertainty, and of the circumstances of your life. Remember you are powerful. You've overcome everything you've ever faced, and survived. You are more powerful than you give yourself credit for.

2. And yes, you may not have followed through on the past year's goals, intentions, etc.. And yes, you can absolutely make that "mean something" about you... but what a waste of creative energy. If you still want to go for those goals, just find better, more inspiring ways to go for them!

3. You have infinite choices. Whatever you want to accomplish in the new year, you have infinite ways you can get there (Even if it doesn't feel like it sometimes)- But you'll only reach your goals if you suck it up and just make a choice and commit already.

4. And finally- stop getting down on yourself for "not knowing how" to do something that you've never f*cking done before!

I've never learned Russian! The only words I know are from my favorite movie, "The Hunt For Red October". I'm not chastising myself for failing at speaking it perfectly. And it's crazy that you hold yourself to the standard that you SHOULD know how to do things that you've never done before. Stop doing that.

You have a choice this coming year. Stick to the old ways- the ways that don't serve you, the ways that keep you small, unsuccessful, and wishing for something more.

OR... stop being a weenie and make some changes.

I vote for stopping being a weenie. Weenies don't get to do lobster and champagne on new years eve with their loved ones, knowing that they're still making progress towards their goals.
