Novelty! Center of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology in Guimarães

Portugal will have until the end of the year a nucleus of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) dedicated to the digital area, which will work in Guimarães, the minister of Science and Technology announced at the 8th of November.

Manuel Heitor said that the EIT center will operate in Guimarães, benefiting from the facilities of the "DTx Digital Transformation CoLab" laboratory, directed by the former rector of the University of Minho António Cunha.

The Portuguese hub of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology will promote "qualified employment" and develop projects such as digital solutions for mobility systems in cities, including transport, according to the minister.

Created in 2008, under the initiative of the European Commission, the EIT's mission is to promote innovation in the countries of the European Union. Its headquarters are in Budapest, Hungary.

Established last May, the Portuguese laboratory "DTx Digital Transformation CoLab" is directed to applied research in areas associated with digital transformation, proposing to develop products that integrate intelligent materials, digital technologies and solutions based on artificial intelligence.
