Now Is Not The Time To Stop - Why It Is A Mistake And What To Do Instead

Now Is Not The Time To Stop - Why It Is A Mistake And What To Do Instead

It's that time of the Year.

The Holidays.

Spending Time with Family.

(Sometimes being Annoyed by Family, even if you Love Them).

The Weather tends to be Cooler.

It sends us Inside to get Warm.

Hiding under Blankets.

Starting a Fire.

However, it is also at this Time of Year where I see People making the Largest Mistake Possible.

Stopping.

Completely.

They see the Goals that they Set at the Beginning of the Year.

(You Know, the ones that Most People Fell Flat On).

They see that only a few weeks or days are left and go and they say...

I'll Do Better Next Year.

I'll Start Strong!

Hit the Ground Running Starting on January 1st!

I get it.

I used to be the same way.

But it is a Gigantic Mistake.

Why?

There are a few Reasons.

The first is Momentum.

Do you Know when it is Hardest to Push an Object?

When it is Stopped.

You have to Overcome both Gravity and Friction simultaneously.

The "Friction" is Particularly Problematic.

See, as Humans, we have a tendency to Build Habits.

Some of these we Choose to Build.

Others are Consequences of Defaulting.

When We Choose to Stop, We Begin to Default.

So the Default Habit Begins Form.

This means that come January 1st, You're Not Really "Starting" from a Stop.

You're Actually Trying to Stop a Default Habit.

It is Similar to Starting in Negative.

Or like Attempting to Stop a Boulder that is Crashing Down a Mountain.

Can it be Done?

Sure...

But it is Not Easy.

The Longer the Default Habit Builds, the More Steam it Builds Downhill, and the More Effort will be Required to turn it around.

As Humans, we seek to Use as "Little" Energy (Mg-ATP) as possible.

This Further makes our Lives More Difficult.

So, you will want to Change the Trajectory Sooner if you want it to be Easier for Yourself.

The Next Reason that Now is Not the Time to Stop?

Everyone is Stopping.

There are Two Benefits to Moving When Others Stop.

First, You'll make More Progress than Others.

Second, You'll Have Momentum when Everyone Else Crashes Together at the Same Time.

Think of it like a Race.

You Know that there are Hundreds or Thousands of other Competitors.

About 2 minutes into the Race, there is an Extreme Bottleneck.

Only about 10 people can move through it at Once.

If you Start Now, the Bottleneck will be Easy to Move Past because No One is There.

But if you wait for Everyone Else?

Suddenly Hundreds or Thousands of People will "All" be Clumping Together at that Bottleneck.

Everyone else will be Slowed Down.

Fighting.

Waiting.

Cursing.

But that Does Not Need to Be You.

This Happens in Every Facet of Life.

The New Year's Resolution Fitness Goalers.

People Crowd into the Gym where it becomes Overcrowded with People who are Confused and Unsure what to Do, making Lines at Machines.

All Bottlenecked.

The Entrepreneur Launching a New Product.

Getting No Data on what Is or Is Not Working, Having No Testimonies of their Work, and Competing Against Everyone Else Screaming at the Tops of their Lungs.

Do You Know Who Customers Will Not Trust?

Everyone who Started January 1st.

They'll Look for Who Has Some Track Record, even if it is only a "Slightly" Longer One.

What about The Businesses making Sales Calls on January 1st?

Again, they are Battling "All" the Other Businesses who Decided to Stop in the Month of December.

But Customers will Seek Out Those Who Created Warm Leads "Before" January 1st.

Everyone who calls at the Same Time on January 1st will likely be Forgotten in the Confusion of Mass Simultaneous Communications Bombarding Potential Clients.

If you Wait to Start, you'll likely have to wait until the Second Quarter for Significant Progress to be Made.

The Sales Experts say that it takes, on average, 5 Touch Points before a Sale is Made.

If you Made 4 Touch Points "Before" January 1st, Your Chances are "Significantly" Better to Make an Early Sale.

Here is the Funny Thing About "All" of this Though.

It is True that "Now" is Not the Time to Stop.

But that Does Not Mean that you Need to Make "Huge" Moves Either.

Why?

Everyone Else is Stopping.

Things are Quiet.

Few People are "Doing" Anything.

If you go to the Gym, You'll Learn the Equipment Quickly.

No One is Around.

If you Post Content, You'll Discover More People "See" Your Work.

No One is "Creating".

If you Reach Out to Potential Clients, they are More Likely to Respond.

They Have Little to Do Right Now.

(Even if They Don't "Buy" the Touch Point is Still Important).

So Not Only Are You Defeating the Secret Enemy of Backward Momentum, but You "Also" Have No One in Your Way to Progress Either!

If You're Planning on Starting Something New...

Start Now!
