Featured Members of the NW Arkansas Talent Network
Hoss Layne - Field of Interest: Legal & Business Strategist
Hoss grew up in NWA but has lived abroad for the past 9 years in Chile, Brazil, and Spain where he was General Counsel and COO for a student-centered education company that focused on entrepreneurship and emerging technologies. Coming back home, he hopes to bring the lessons he learned and skills he developed to the place he loves. He has a good balance of light-hearted frivolity, intense dedication and passion. He is guided by his principles and grounded by his ethics, committing to “grabbing the deep end of the seine” like his father taught him on the blueberry farm where he grew up. Problem-solving became his second nature when he started his indoor mushroom farm and remains excited to continue that passion as a hobby.
Morgan Baumgardner - Field of Interest: Community Engagement & Marketing Automation
Morgan is passionate about innovation, communications, and building communities. Her entrepreneurial spirit has driven her to lay the foundation for new teams, launch businesses, and grow organizations. She enjoys rallying a group to achieve a common goal while applying technology to improve antiquated processes.
“When I'm not at my desk you may find me playing with my dogs, curled up with a good book, birdwatching, riding my mountain bike, exploring backroads on my gravel bike, or researching my next hobby. I enjoy being a member and volunteering with the Women of OZ NWA , Friends of Arkansas Singletrack, Springdale Bike Club, The Bella Vista Bluebird Society, and the Junior League of Northwest Arkansas.”
Morgan and her husband discovered Northwest Arkansas when they were full-time RV-ing. “We visited particularly for the mountain bike trails and discovered this community offered so much more. We first visited in July 2021 and made Bella Vista our new home in September 2021.”
Wesley Scott Brownfield - Field of Interest: Information Technology
Scott Brownfield is an experienced IT professional with expertise in mentorship, efficiency, leadership, business and IT transformation, information and network security, customer and stakeholder relations, and universal design. Scott currently serves as the Chief Information Security Officer at Missouri Southern State University, where he provides strategic and tactical planning, development, and implementation for the IT department. Scott is skilled in root-cause analysis/troubleshooting, Microsoft 365 administration, Azure Active Directory, System Center Configuration Manager, Power Automate, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office, and ChatGPT. He has a Master of Science in Management and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, both from Missouri Southern State University. During his free time, he enjoys finding new and exciting things to do in Northwest Arkansas with his wife and daughter.
Sina Dadgar - Field of Interest: Biomedical Engineering & Data Science
Sina was born and raised in Iran and currently resides in Springdale with his wife and son. Sina is a data-driven researcher with academic and industry experience in life sciences and health care, and a track record of synthesizing complex information and providing actionable insights. He enjoys spending time with family, attending community events, hiking, and watching his son play soccer. “I am a passionate reader in the field of human history from an evolutionary perspective, specifically within the context of social and natural sciences. My favorite thing about NWA is its commitment to diversity and advancement of art, science, tourism, and pretty much everything else.”

Melvi Cifuentes Paul, JD - Field of Interest: Legal & Community Engagement
Melvi pursued a law degree because of her passion for immigrant rights. She found that there is more than one way to give back to her community through board membership and later as the board chair for Neighbors Immigration Clinic, an affiliated site with the Immigration Law and Justice Network, formerly Justice for Our Neighbors (JFON). She states that her move back to Northwest Arkansas feels like her life, personally and professionally, has come full circle. Melvi’s family immigrated from Guatemala and settled in Arkansas in 1997. However, she was raised across the state line in Noel, Missouri. “This area of the country holds so much of my heart. My husband, son and I are excited to be back and explore the growth and culture of Northwest Arkansas.” Melvi is excited to be a part of a vibrant community with so much promise of prosperity.
Jack Short - Field of Interest: Community Engagement & Business Development
Jack recently moved back home to Northwest Arkansas after spending the last six years in Conway, Arkansas. During his time in Conway, he graduated with a business administration degree from the University of Central Arkansas while playing five years of college football. Jack moved back to spend more time with his family and fully enjoy everything Northwest Arkansas has to offer. He prides himself on the ability to effectively communicate with everyone around him and being an effective contributor to any team he is a part of. Regardless of the task at hand, Jack is confident in his ability to learn how to complete it and navigate any problems that come with it. He is constantly trying to learn new things and further develop his abilities inside and outside of the professional landscape.
“Away from work, I am an action sports enthusiast and will be taking full advantage of all of the great action sports opportunities here in NWA including biking, skateboarding, and wakeboarding. Along with action sports, I am a sports enthusiast in general and have a huge passion for football and soccer."
