Observations from My Trip to Japan

Observations from My Trip to Japan

I have been meaning to return to Japan since it is a critical country for us, so I was excited to have the opportunity to visit last month. While there, the Zscaler Japan Team kept me busy, which was great. Japan is a beautiful country with a fascinating culture and, though it was a short visit, I thoroughly enjoyed my time there.

Some of the highlights of my visit include:

  • In-depth conversations with partners and customers, which provided greater insight into the security needs of modern enterprises today and into the future
  • Getting to meet members of the Zscaler Japan Team, some for the very first time
  • Speaking at CXO Summit Live in Tokyo, a regional event that brings together C-level executives to connect, collaborate and share best practices with each other

I enjoyed meeting with partners to reaffirm our commitment to helping them support enterprises in the region and speaking with customers to better understand the triumphs and challenges they’re experiencing as they navigate their digital transformation journeys. It was very apparent that customers truly value learning from each other, so I am thrilled that the CXO Summit provided that forum for them. At the CXO Summit, Ryuzo Matsuyama, CIO of Daiwa House, a leader in the Japanese construction industry, spoke about how Zscaler helped them maintain business continuity by keeping employees secure and productive during the pandemic.

During my visit, I had the opportunity to engage with over 70 business leaders and executives, each meeting extremely meaningful and insightful. And I loved getting to meet colleagues in our Japan office, who exhibited teamwork, commitment and passion for the work that they do, signifying that the Zscaler company culture is alive and well in Japan!

Thank you to the customers and partners who took the time to meet me during my visit and a heartfelt thank you to the Zscaler Japan Team for your gracious hospitality. I hope to see you all again soon!

It is amazing to see different cultures in our business travels. These people bring unique views, approach and methodologies to solving business problems, because of their culture. American culture is amazing, but so is that of Japan, and Mexico, and Brazil, and - and - and. Happy to see you enjoyed. I miss being part of a global team. They all know who they are!

Jay Chaudhry: I apologize if I miss this but how did you or ZS has addressed any privacy-related security concerns when coupled with regional compliance requirements? Privacy is core to any solution in today's changing laws and compliance requirements.
