Olympics On The Horizon, Brat Summer, A New Taco Bell Retirement Community

Here at SRW, we not only create amazing creative content, but we also keep a close eye on what's happening all around the digital landscape. What’s been on our minds this week? The Olympics are coming up, Charli XCX’s Brat summer has taken the Internet by storm, and Taco Bell is introducing a new retirement community.

🚀 Top Trending Topics:

  • 🏊The 2024 Paris Olympics are set to begin next week, and they won’t start without controversy. Paris’ river Seine is supposed to host swimming competitions, but it has long been unsafe to swim in. Organizers have spent over $1.5 billion to clean up the river in preparation for the Games, and Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo even took a dip in the river to prove it was safe enough to swim in. Swimming in the Seine has been banned for over a century, and protestors of the Games have been intentionally dirtying the river over the past few weeks.
  • 🌮In fast food news, Taco Bell is launching its own retirement community called The Cantinas. The Cantinas will open its doors from August 17-18 out in California, and will provide ”a Taco Bell-fueled, sun-soaked experience filled with senior-inspired recreation and cross-generational activities.”
  • 🟩The Brat aesthetic has taken over summer 2024. Inspired by Charli XCX’s Brat album, which was released this past June, the aesthetic has generated over $22.5 million in media impact value, while searches for items in Brat-style “slime green” surged 17% in the past two weeks. It’s become so popular that even the United Kingdom’s Green Party got in on the fun, creating a Brat-inspired “Vote Green” graphic in the run-up to the UK’s general elections.
