Overcoming Depression through Online Mindfulness Therapy
It is essential that you learn how to, basically, meditate on your anxiety and depression. You've got to form a friendly relationship with all your emotions.
Most of us, naturally, react to our anxiety, depression or other negative emotions with avoidance or some form of resistance towards those negative emotions.
We don't like these unpleasant feelings and we attempt to eliminate them. This really is surprisingly the worst thing you can possibly do, because this kind of reactivity makes of making the anxiety or depression grow and become stronger. Any kind of reactivity has the negative effect of strengthening your anxiety or depression.
What I've found, and lots of others in the field of Mindfulness Therapy have found, is that what actually creates change and transformation is when we train ourselves to hold the emotion in our conscious awareness without reacting to our painful emotions with avoidance and aversion. In effect, we learn to meditate on our depression. That does not mean wallowing in our emotions and negative thinking, but rather learning to be fully present with our emotion and thoughts but without becoming reactive towards those thoughts or emotions.
When you are doing that you're learning the best way to effectively be with the emotion without becoming reactive and without becoming overwhelmed by it. This teaches the mind an entirely different way of processing that emotion, which allows the emotion to change, to heal itself also to transform itself.
