Be original (just like a fried chicken)

Be original (just like a fried chicken)

Being original is all about being memorable. This is the x-factor when it comes to personal branding.

It's why I use fried chicken as part of my brand toolkit. And it works! I was in a podcast interview, and the host asked me: "I saw you on stage in 2019. I remember you talking about two things: LinkedIn and Fried Chicken. So what's with you and fried chicken?"

I giggled. There's a reason for my madness.

Fried chicken is my visual cue to be memorable. Even if we don't engage, I know that I planted the visual of fried chicken into your psyche. Every time you eat fried chicken, you will think of me.

To this day, I have folks DM'ing me fried chicken photos. Fried chicken works.

To be original, embrace your quirky side.

My comedian friend, Diana Nguyen, snorts when she is on stage! It makes the audience smile back and giggles.

Another entrepreneur, Noah Kagan, uses tacos as a visual brand cue.

Aussie Shark Tank's Naomi Simson, well she wears a red dress. She cuts an intimidating figure as the 'Red Shark' in her signature red dress and lipstick.

Whether it be your favourite food or wearing your favourite outfit. This unique factor will make you stand out.

I'm going to list a bunch of questions for you below. Let it guide you on what makes you memorable.

🍗 What makes you quirky?

🍗 What's your signature colour?

🍗What's your favourite food? I like fried chicken

🍗What topic are you passionate about and talk hours about?

🍗What are you obsessed with?

🍗What visual or behavioural cue represents you? Glasses can be a visual cue.

🍗 What do you have that no one else has?

To be original, be memorable.

It means not following the crowd. It's about being yourself!

Don't worry about what other people think of you. We want them to think about you. Being unique is what makes you memorable.
