P is for Perspective
You’re in the thick of it. You’ve got deadlines coming out of your ears; your kids need picking up from school; you’ve not got anything in for dinner; there’s laundry that needs doing. This is life doing its best to make sure your nose is on the grindstone, going nowhere.
What you need in this moment is some perspective.
Perspective often feels like something that other people have; a 1,000-yard view they can take because they’re not ‘in’ whatever you are looking at.
You can make life easier by allowing time and space to rise above and shift how you're seeing what's in front of you.
Like the sanitor in a kitchen who might be met with something of a disaster area every time they come to clean up, you’re going to view your scenario with fresh eyes.
You’re going to acknowledge that you’re close to the stone right now.
You’re going to gently stop what you’re doing and get up.
You’re going to step away and distance yourself for a moment.
When you step back you’ve cleared your head and made way for everything to pile in! Nothing has changed about what’s going on except your perspective.
You’ve come into it with a fresh pair of eyes and are ready to pick things up.
It might not feel easy to do this - especially when you are busy or feeling thoroughly overwhelmed - but it can be done. It’s one of those small steps that’ll ensure you’re able to enjoy your work and your life, regardless of what’s stacking up.

1yYou had me with the picture of Lego 😂 It's funny isn't it when you are sitting at your desk and thinking there is so much to do. A lot of the pressure if from ourselves to meet unrealistic targets. Making a plan, priorotising everything. It doesn't stop everything needed to be done. But it does allow you to give yourself a break and realise that you aren't superhuman so you have to manage your own expectations of yourself. It allows you to have a little moment of clarity, which is what we all need ❤️

1yGetting up and walking away is such a great thing to do when you're feeling stuck - far better and more productive than telling yourself to just keep going (which is often the instinct when you're up against it, right?!)
