Pandemic I - "Crown" Motivational Virus Speech (circa 1599)
Cheer up mates! Life is beautiful. Don’t let 2020 discourage us. let’s infect others with kindness and joy. My William Shakespeare's Henry V paraphrasing to smile a bit, if it'spossible.
This year is called the feast of introspection.
He that outlives this year and comes to “normal life” again,
Will stand o’ tiptoe when the lockdown is named
And rouse him at the name of COVID.
He that shall see this year, and live old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbors
And say, “Tomorrow is a New Year”.
Then will he breath deeply and tell his hurts,
And say, “These “scars” I had on COVID’s year”.
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot
But he’ll remember with advantages
What feats he did that year. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words,
Zoom, digital transformation, “You’re in mute”, “New normality”, “Let’s reconnect”
Be in their flowing cups freshly remembered.
This story shall the good man teach his son,
And coronavirus shall ne’er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered—
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he today that casts his compassion and kindness with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This manner shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in their homes now abed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That broadcasted joy with us upon COVID’s year
