PEOPLE ARE HOLDING YOU BACK FROM YOUR FULL POTENTIAL

What's the number one sign you have the wrong friends or wrong associates around you?

There are so many people that are so talented, and they're just not doing good in life. They're failing, not succeeding, and not reaching the goals they wish or once dreamed of doing.

And a lot of the time, I'm not saying it's all the time, but a vast majority of the time it's because they're around a bunch of negative people, people that invalidate them in some way, talk badly about them behind their back, or just give them bad advice.

There's the saying of never getting financial advice from somebody that makes less money than you. That's equally correct in terms of success so don't take advice on success from someone less successful than you are. A perfect example: I'll get consultants that will reach out to my office and leave messages saying, “Hey, we want to take Vick to the next level”

Several years ago, one of them managed to get a meeting with me and I asked, “Okay, so you want to take me to the next level?” He said, “Yeah, I can take you to the next level.” I replied, “Okay, well, how many employees do you have?” And he said back, “Uh, one.” I continued to question him, “Okay, where are your offices?” He goes, “I work out of my house.” and I say, “Okay, do you do a million dollars in revenue, more or less?” And he goes, “No, we haven't hit that yet.” 

At the time I was doing at least 5, 6, 7 times that and I ended up asking him “So how are you going to help me take it to the next level?” And that was the end of the meeting. The point is, a lot of people I see that aren’t doing well, they're not doing well because they have these people around them that are, to put it bluntly, just bad. 

About three or four years ago, I took inventory of everybody that I was associated with and that I had any connection with that was either negative, wasn't there to support me or wasn't there to push me.

I completely and utterly disconnected from those people. Since then, every area of my life went from normal to great. That's not a coincidence. That's a great example of when you get rid of people in your life that are not for you, what can happen if you work hard.
