People Pay Attention To What They Pay For

Welcome to another edition of The Community Accelerator.

In this Holiday issue, and time of giving.

There is a reality all of us must realize going into 2023.

There is only so much giving you can offer, to truly change the lives of others.

People procrastinate, and when they don't have skin in the game. It's extremely rare to see any kind of action from them.

Why?

The reality is people pay attention to what they pay for.

For example, I always get asked- "Why do you charge for a 5-Day Challenge- Chris?"

The answer is quite simple.

I want those who have the tangible problem I solve to put skin in the game.

Because I know they will show up and play full out. They participate daily to gain new insights and grow in life.

I always ask them right back.

If they charge a nominal investment for the life-changing value they offer others.

I do this because I constantly hear people complaining that they spend heaps of time with "freebie seekers".

These are individuals who will consume your free content, jump on a call with you, or DM you nonstop on social media. And ask nonstop questions but when you go to offer them the guidance they seek.

They tell you that they don't have any money.

Let's be real - these kinds of people are time vampires.

The reason is they are not serious about taking action in their lives to get the results that they desperately want. If they REALLY wanted the result they would find the money to invest... it's the TRUTH!

I know that reality is the truth from personal experience. When I had to sell one of my bikes to work with a Coach. I knew this person could accelerate my results faster and was tight on finances. It was a tough decision, however, it moved me forward faster. And eventually, I bought a better bike!

If you are finding yourself in this situation of freebie seekers. Then you don't have the right product to market fit.

What I mean is that you are not calling in the right potential clients AND you are probably not marketing your product in the right way.

So, how do you solve that problem?

By answering this question...

What is the #1 tangible problem that keeps your audience awake at night?

  • Mindset block isn't tangible.
  • Childhood trauma isn't tangible.
  • Wanting to "feel good about themselves" isn't tangible.

Most entrepreneurs make the mistake of using jargon that isn't understood by anyone outside of their world.  And it gets lost on their audience.

If you want your next client to stand up, pay attention and jump on calls (and be prepared to buy) then you have to speak to their TANGIBLE pain point.

People want to improve the following areas:

  • Finance
  • Health
  • Career
  • Relationships

See my point?

So a TANGIBLE problem may be:

  • "I am struggling each month to get new clients which causes me to fall behind on bills and this needs to change fast."
  • "I am meeting my immediate bills but I have no money for retirement and this needs to change".
  • "I am too fat, I want to shed some pounds, and then I will feel like people will love me more"
  • "I am not happy with my career, I want to advance the corporate later and increase my salary"
  • "All my friends are married, with kids and I am single. I need to find a partner, settle down and have kids before it's too late"

Do you see how these are real, tangible problems, that people would want to know the solution to?

Your marketing has to be absolutely CLEAR about the #1 tangible problem that you solve.

And then, your marketing needs to CALL out those who are prepared to invest to make that change.

Let me give you an example from a clients marketing message:

"I work with single corporate women whose careers have stopped them from building the family that they desire. I work with women who are committed to investing time and money to find the man of their dreams, have a child, and create the family that they long for."

Did you see what I highlighted?

That's right I would categorically say that I work with [your audience] who are prepared to invest.

If you are vocal about the fact that you work with those who invest to get the result that they long for guess what will happen?

The freebie seekers will be scared of the word "invest" and move onward.

And those who desperately want to change and are prepared to pay will be the ones booking calls and sending you DMs.

Makes sense?

Here is a practical example to help you get some traction.

When you post or go live on social platforms, give examples of your clients who have invested:

"Michelle, a client of mine invested $5k into my program and has now increased her sales by 30% in under 90 days. In fact, she told me that she has wasted money on finding new clients the wrong way and that if she found me earlier she would have saved so much money and time!"

Do you see the truthful and authentic voice?

This is how you will begin to attract great clients who are willing to pay for your services.

Try it... post on LinkedIn using the following outline:

I work with [your audience] to ensure they solve [biggest tangible problem]. And I work with those who invest time and money because when they do they achieve life-changing results. Want to know more?

Then have a Call To Action (CTA) for them to learn more.

Don't use the cheesy tactic of --- "Comment- I need this". Because unless you are using a pod on Social Media... NOBODY is going to engage.

My recommendation is along these lines...

I guide service-based entrepreneurs to ensure they increase sales faster with Challenges. And I work with those who invest time and money because when they do they achieve life-changing results.
