What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare IT?
My inspiration to pursue a career in healthcare IT was the ability to impact people’s lives positively. Being in IT, we are generally a few degrees away from the patient; however, much of our work is to enhance and improve various parts of the patient’s journey.
Why Prominence Health?
It's truly the people I work with daily and the impact I get to make on members’ lives. I love that Prominence fosters a forward-thinking culture and can-do attitude, which is embodied by every employee.
Are there any projects or initiatives at Prominence that you are particularly passionate about?
I am passionate about enhancing our data infrastructure to enable the possibility of integrating artificial intelligence into our processes and interactions.
What role do you think technology plays in the advancement of value-based care?
Technology plays a large role in the advancement of value-based care. Having technology synthesize large datasets very quickly will help providers with patient-impacting decisions. As well as provide both the provider and the member with real-time data so they can make informed decisions at a moment's notice.

What's something we'd be surprised to know about you?
Even though I was in the Navy and have done a lot of ocean swimming, sharks are my biggest fear.
What is your proudest accomplishment so far?
My proudest personal accomplishment is being a dad; it's the best title I’ll ever have. On the professional side, my proudest accomplishment was being told that I made a positive impact on someone’s career. I stand on the shoulders of many mentors and senior engineers who went out of their way to provide me with valuable career advice.
If you could have dinner with any historical figure or fictional character, who would it be and why?
I would like to have dinner with Viktor E. Frankl. He was a psychiatrist, Holocaust survivor, and published thirty books in his lifetime. One of his most notable works was ‘Man’s Search for Meaning’, in which he describes our life drive. I’d like to have a conversation and learn as much as possible during that dinner.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
I would tell my younger self to have a growth mindset. There are many times where you think you are good at something then reality strikes. When I was younger, I used to get down on myself for not having all the answers, this was a zero-sum game. By having a growth mindset, a failure just means there is more to learn.
