Recent evacuation orders in Gaza
On 21-22 August, Israel issued evacuation orders for 15 neighborhoods in Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis, central and southwestern Gaza. This marks the 13th evacuation order in August alone, displacing approximately 250,000 Palestinians—some for the tenth time. The latest orders have caused severe disruption to humanitarian efforts in Deir al-Balah.

Widespread flooding has led to significant displacement across multiple regions. Urgent shelter and humanitarian assistance are required. The combination of heavy rainfall, overflowing rivers, and landslides has aggravated the crisis, particularly in areas with active conflict.
On 28 July 2024, Venezuela held presidential elections that triggered massive protests over alleged fraud, leading to a violent government crackdown. Continued unrest, especially in major cities, is expected. Disruptions are likely to impact transportation, healthcare, and essential services.
Smaller national NGOs, Civil Society organisations, and volunteers make up more than two-thirds of all operational responders. And yet, less than 1% of the total funding between 2022 and 2023 was allocated directly to them. This has resulted in noticeable barriers to accessing duty of care and ensuring the safety of staff.
The Kharif season, one of the two main rainy sesons in Yemen, has deviated from normal patterns, bringing significant flooding to both highland and coastal regions. The most pressing needs include emergency shelter for displaced populations, WASH facilities to prevent waterborne diseases, and food assistance.
