Reflecting on Black History Month

As we celebrate Black History Month this February, we pause to acknowledge the rich and impactful contributions of the African American community. This is a time to honor the resilience, achievements, and cultural heritage of Black individuals who have made indelible strides in shaping our world.

The African American Faculty and Staff Association (AAFSA) employee resource group recognizes the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and we are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels affirmed, respected, and empowered. We believe that embracing culture not only enriches our workplace at UC Davis, but also fosters community and creativity.

During this month and beyond, let us continue to amplify the voices, stories, and experiences of the Black community. Let us also reflect on how we can further promote diversity and equality within our organization and beyond.

Together, let's commemorate and celebrate the profound impact of Black history and the ongoing efforts to create a more equitable and inclusive society.

AAFSA is hosting several Black History Month events throughout February. Click here for more details.
