A fellow handbag and SLG manufacturing owner once asked me three pointed questions after seeing some of Jiean Bags' performance data:
These questions cover a broad spectrum, making them hard to answer in just a few words. So, I shared a recent real-life example that seemed unrelated but spoke volumes.
The Inquiry That Tested Claims
On November 5, I received a LinkedIn guest speaker proposal with a compelling headline: “The Secret to a 70% Reply Rate in Foreign Trade Cold Emails.”
Intrigued but skeptical, I saw potential in the topic but needed to verify its legitimacy. I sent the applicant six detailed questions about their process: target audience, sourcing method, email verification, sample size, campaign type, and examples.
Two days later, the applicant responded with detailed answers, claiming they researched buyers, curated a list, created custom presentations, and sent 10 personalized emails, receiving seven responses. However, I still wasn't convinced, so I sent a second round of questions digging deeper into their methods, timeframes, and client interactions.
As of now, I haven’t received a reply. If the applicant’s claims are valid, they could become a featured speaker at our 2024 Annual Conference. If not, their cold email still succeeded — it prompted a response from me.
