Tech is evolving and so are we
This year, we hit refresh with a bold rebrand, which reflects our own evolution from a small business in Brighton to 19 centres across Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific.
In 1991, FDM started its life in an attic in Brighton, with one computer and two phones. Fast forward 30+ years, and FDM has become a market leading global consultancy launching thousands of careers with hundreds of clients worldwide. Our mission? To attract the best talent and ensure our partners stay ahead of the ever-evolving tech curve.
Our five new practices
As part of our rebrand, we’ve launched five new practices, designed to help navigate the rapid pace of tech innovation and the changing expectations of both employees and employers.
Emerging technologies and shifting work practices mean companies must focus less on clearly defined job roles and more on the capabilities of highly versatile professionals, who will add value to projects at pace.
Our five specialist consulting areas include multiple interconnected pathways at our FDM Skills Labs, building a skilled and adaptable consultant workforce.
Consultants acquire expertise within a diverse range of disciplines under a consulting area and can undertake several different roles when deployed on assignments.
Skills Lab: Where talent grows
Academic institutions and professional skills providers are slowly moving away from traditional classroom-based teaching to offer more practical hands-on coaching.
At FDM we’re continually evolving our skills development offerings to provide the best learning outcomes for our consultants, translating into exceptional talent solutions for our clients.
Traditional methods can fall short, often missing the mark when it comes to real-world application. Enter the FDM Skills Lab: a dynamic experiential learning environment where consultants tackle hands-on, scenario-based activities that mirror the challenges they will face in their professional roles.
This approach not only accelerates the acquisition of skills, but also fosters critical thinking, adaptability and problem-solving abilities, ensuring our consultants can hit the ground running, equipped to make an immediate impact.
💬 Gangotri Bhatt , Director of Skills Lab (UK & EMEA) says:
The FDM Skills Lab centres around our culture of lifelong learning through a Sprint-based methodology. This approach provides consultants with flexible, experiential, and hands-on learning, helping them acquire tailored skills that align precisely with client needs.
Enabling the Power of Pods
What are Pods, and how are they changing the way businesses scale?
An FDM Pod refers to a cross-functional team of consultants working collaboratively on practical, outcome-based projects within an Agile Sprint construct. These small, autonomous teams of tech and business experts, combine their diverse skills to drive results for our clients.
Here’s why Pods are a game-changer: scalability, collaboration, efficiency.
Pods are an integral part of our Skills Lab, where continuous upskilling in specialised teams prepares our talent to solve real-world challenges with innovative solutions from day one.
We offer our clients the opportunity to attend sprint demos, interact with teams pre-onboarding, and assign projects for assessment.
Empowering change
🏆 Six years at the top of our game
We’ve earned our place in the UK Social Mobility Index for the 6th consecutive year. The index recognises the efforts of UK employers to encourage talent from all backgrounds. Opening doors and breaking barriers? Business as usual for FDM. Find our more about how we’re dedicated to championing social mobility in the workplace.
👩🏽💻 -2.5% mean gender pay gap in favour of female employees
Yes, you read that right. This year we published our Gender Pay Gap Report for the seventh year since mandatory reporting was introduced in the UK in 2017. From our Returners Programme with a 66% majority female intake, to our all-female bootcamps, we are continually working towards bringing more women into tech and closing the gender pay gap in the sector. How do we do it?
Gen Z is here: Is your workplace ready?
This year we launched our whitepaper exploring the impact on the workforce as Gen Z is set to finally surpass Boomers in numbers. For organisations, this isn’t just a passing trend—it’s a wake-up call to understand how to attract, engage, and empower this generation of talent.
Unlocking Gen Z’s potential involves tailoring your workplace to their needs. Drawing from our latest whitepaper research and extensive experience, we offer recommendations on leveraging Gen Z’s strengths and understanding their behaviours to boost engagement and retention.
