Ripping up the rulebook in the math classroom.
“Technology helps make me a better teacher. Teaching is still teaching. By switching to more digital methods and tools you’re only changing how you arrange content. For example, I love using graphical solutions alongside algebraic ones.” Dan Lyons, Math Teacher, Catoosa County Schools District
We couldn’t have put it better ourselves. This was our vision for Equatio in a nutshell. We’re humbled by the stories we hear from hero teachers across the world and we could only hope to create something that would support their relentless work and effort. Being able to offer a tool that helps math and STEM teachers reach every student in their class is something that we don’t take lightly.
It’s also really important to us that we don’t just create a tool and leave teachers to their own devices. We want to make sure that we share lots of ways to use Equatio to enhance math classrooms. Our awesome Teaching and Learning Specialist here at Texthelp , SJ White has created a short video series to capture lots of different ways teachers can use Equatio in the classroom to capture the attention and understanding of every student.
2. Show students that math is on the move. Traditionally thought of as a “pen and paper” subject, Equatio makes math digital and more importantly, much more accessible for all students. Having a digital view of math can really help students to understand new concepts.

3. Let’s face it, we all learn better when something is visualized. Sometimes we get stuck on the wording of a math problem, or just can’t see past the letters and numbers in algebra. Equatio mathspace is great for visualizing problems and allowing students to solve them at their own pace. Whilst still showing their understanding and working out.
4. Exit tickets, quizzes, and tests can be hard on students. and while we all know every student learns differently, we also need to accept that every student will demonstrate their mastery differently too. Equatio in Google Forms allows teachers and students to do just that. Students can use Equatio to show their understanding of math skills. While teachers can recognize mastery, as well as any telltale signs of problems at an individual level.
That’s just a few of the ways Equatio is being used in the classroom by teachers across the globe. But we know there’s many, many more. Why not drop us a top tip in the comments and share your tips with other teachers?
