ROCK 105: 4 Questions to Assert
Day 4 into ROCK 105.
To date, we have considered Acceptance, Accountability, and Appreciation. I humbly, lovingly and assertively suggest and recommend the reads and reflection. Today, and to the point, let us consider that virtue of Assertiveness.
Speaking our truth with Confidence. Valuing the gifts we bring. Standing for what we think as right. Honoring our worth. Setting clear boundaries and knowing we are worthy of Respect. And practicing all of this in seeing others as well. Confidence. Appreciation. Righteousness. Honor. Respect. These all build our practice of Assertiveness.

Yesterday, I spoke mine... on racism. It was after some Consideration and it, by no means, is my last learning or assertion on same as you can see in the post. That said, I practiced Confidence, Appreciation, Righteousness, Honor, Respect... for myself ... and for those for whom I care most.
... and for Tyler Perry and his son... and for my humanity.
4 Questions
My questions for you this day are:
- What do you hold to be considered. important and right to you in work and life? Be very clear and specific in your answers. What people, places, ideas, work and causes are your big rocks? Write down, carve them out, own them... your own non-negotiables.
- What do you know and appreciate about yourself that you bring to work and life? What talents, gifts, capacities, passion and purpose do you bring? Get clear on your weapons platforms, your resources of you.
- How would that look confidently expressed? Consider Confidence above. What would that look like manifested and delivered on in relation to questions 1 and 2?
- What would Honor and Respect look like in doing so? Who would be honored and respected? How would they be? What deeds and words would ensure same?
In answering these question, you strengthen your resolve, gate and countenance. You find more fierce and even fun focus. Distractions and doubts find such strength to be a fortress and unassailable. You gain a deeper sense of Fortitude.
We know that Assertiveness is not aggressiveness. It respects and honors... ourselves and others.
Assertiveness is our brick and mortar to build our sense of self and our strength of self, and in Service to our lives and those of others. In these days and times and going forward, this is a work project worthy of our investment.

Educate, lead, unite and inspire. Move forward together, stronger. My work is about bringing campuses, companies and communities together, moving forward stronger. I work with educators, entrepreneurs and emerging leaders to do just that. My work is about character leadership and education and its role in helping individuals and organizations build a better world at school, work, business and community. I deliver on it through speaking, coaching and development in character leadership and education. My expertise is character leadership and education. I advance unity in diversity by moving the needle on leadership and education that is high character and results forging. I speak, teach, coach, facilitate, lead, write, sing, dance, cartoon and create on that. In 1980, Professor Rolf Hattenauer changed my life. A highly respected expert in Human Resource Management, he expected much of us and he believed much in us. He was an educator and leader of high character. He was extraordinary. To this day and beyond, I try my darnedest to honor his spirit with my own work. That is another story. But I hope I did him service here.
