The Role of Collegues in Overcoming Life's Unexpected Turns
I had a very unfortunate incident recently that messed up my life. It was undoubtedly more disruptive than I initially anticipated. Among the various aspects of my life it impacted, my inability to work was particularly challenging. While I expected to miss being productive and engaging in my daily tasks, I didn't know how much I would miss my work colleagues!
Unknowingly, the friendships and shared moments in the workplace had become an integral part of my day-to-day existence. The little conversations, the team efforts during projects, and the friendship bonds I had formed added a meaning and connection to my career beyond mere professional interaction.
Being away from work made me realise how those relationships added energy to my life. As I navigate through my recovery, the messages and support from my colleagues remind me of the extended family I have at work, further motivating me to heal and return to that environment where we share responsibilities and a unique sense of togetherness.
However, I also felt incredibly insecure and even useless during this time. Thinking about work evokes heavy emotions, and I'm concerned about returning to the same environment. Nevertheless, I'm confident that my colleagues will support me, and with their encouragement and assistance, I'll be OK!
Having written this much, I already feel much better, as it has helped me articulate how I now have a better understanding of the importance of my work colleagues. They are not just colleagues but have become integral figures in my life.
But what truly motivated me to write and publish this article was to express my deepest gratitude to Joanne Sackett , an extraordinary individual who has become a guiding light for me last few weeks (in addition to my immediate family and friends).

Jo and I have been working on the same team for several years. She has been my line manager for the past year or so, but she is more than that.
Since I shared what happened to me with her, she has been a rock, offering unwavering support, reassurance, and affection. It's as though she understands me better than I know myself. She's helped me rediscover my professional self without any hidden agenda or judgment.
Jo is a fantastic person, and I can't thank her enough, so let me repeat it: THANK YOU VERY MUCH, Joanne Sackett
