Schneider Electric Invests For A New Factory Of Intelligent Switchgears In Hungary

📣 News:

Schneider Electric is investing €40 million in the new smart factory in Hungary.

The groundbreaking ceremony marked the latest phase of Schneider Electric’s EUR 40 million investment in Dunavecse as a result of which a smart factory will be set up to manufacture medium voltage electrical switchgear.

The company counts on a surge in demand for electricity-based solutions, the proliferation of green energy as well as energy efficiency developments. Equipment made in the new smart factory will serve this development too.

The project will boost supply to state-of-the-art energy management and industrial automation solutions, thus can contribute to an elevated level of large-scale energy efficiency.

The world leader in electricity distribution and energy management as well as industrial automation and digitalization, French-owned Schneider Electric has built out a presence in Hungary since 1991 and employs around 2,000 people. The company currently has four factories and a regional logistics center in the country. Its commercial, sales, and customer service center and the European HQ of its energy and sustainability service center are located in Budapest. The Hungarian capital further hosts Schneider Electric’s hub providing global financial and procurement services.

Schneider Electric company, the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and industrial automation, broke ground on its new smart factory in Dunavesce, Hungary. With a planned investment of €40 million, the new site will span 25,000 m2 and have a headcount of 500 employees.

The 36th smart factory in Europe, this will be the 22nd engineering-to-order factory in the region, producing primary and secondary switchgear, low voltage cabinets and components, and state-of-the-art SF6-free AirSeT medium voltage switchgear range, all made-to-order to individual customers’ specifications.

From the first day of production, expected in 2024, the factory will be net zero. Geothermal energy and rooftop solar will power the site, and Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure energy management solutions will maximize its energy efficiency.

In addition, the site will feature:

  • 30 electric cars and 25 electric bicycles Schneider Electric charging stations
  • Rainwater will be collected for bathrooms and irrigation
  • Schneider Electric sensors in the offices, meeting rooms, changing rooms, and bathrooms will control the lights and air conditioning to reduce energy waste
  • Airlocks to prevent heat loss at truck-docking stations and at the entrance

The opinions of the managers of Schneider Electric Company about this investment:
