The Search for El Nino: An Adventure

The Search for El Nino: An Adventure

“The Search for El Nino” was created as a description of the El Nino phenomenon, written as a fictional story so that young readers of all ages, would be able to understand the complex weather patterns of El Nino, and have fun while learning.

“I have read with interest and delight, “The Search for El Nino”. It is my judgment that the story is developmentally appropriate for elementary school students, that they have enough ‘story’ to them to motivate readers, and that they are ‘good science’, i.e. accurate and quite complete.” Dr. George Stranahan, Ph.D., Founder of the Aspen Center for Physics, and the Aspen Community School

"The Search for El Nino shows a fine grasp of science fact woven into an engaging and informative package. I truly enjoyed reading it.” Ms. Heidi Lumberg, Publications Director, Denver Museum of Nature and Science

“Cartier has captured the ability to inform while telling a story that keeps the reader interested to the very end. I learned a few new things about ‘El Nino’ and was delighted at how the information was ‘snuck’ in. The creativity is refreshing and inspirational.” Ms. Shannon Wells, Author and Educator, Cherry Creek School District, CO

“'The Search for El Nino’ is a wonderful mix of fiction and good hard science”. Robert Munsch, Best selling children’s author, including “Love You Forever”

“The Search for El Nino wedded many connections and several aspects of science through a creative story line. The story shows how all sciences are interrelated and dependent upon each other. It offers an understanding of how science affects the Earth and all living organisms; a deeper understanding than most adults possess.” Mrs. Jennifer Lund, Science Teacher, Waterford School, Salt Lake City, Utah
