The Secret to a 365-day Vacation
The benefit of nomad living is easy weekend getaways!

The Secret to a 365-day Vacation

Dreaming of that summer holiday?

And afterwards waiting for the winter break...

What if you could have a holiday every weekend (or as often as you wanted)?! Here's the secret for vacationing 365 days of the year...

As digital nomads, my husband and I have found the best way of vacationing. Living in a place for 1 to 3 months at a time lets us enjoy the perks of a vacation every day of the week really!

The fun part (and challenge) is to integrate our lifestyle to fit into the new place and culture. Weekdays are combined with working (remotely), personal interests and daily activities from training to dancing and cooking to Netflix - regular stuff. But the surroundings are new, different and exciting. So, even grocery shopping becomes an adventure especially when you don't understand the language (thanks to Google Translate)!

At weekends, on the other hand, we walk around (a lot!) to explore the city and its surroundings and what they have to offer. Often it's about checking out museums, restaurants, and events - everything is new and so appealing to me!

New tastes, cultures, people, sights, languages... this is what is making my life feel rich. Therefore, it feels like being on vacation all the time. Can you relate?

The absolute benefit of travelling as a digital nomad is making weekend trips is easy! Or at least it feels easier because the places nearby are also new! Here is my recipe for a heavenly holiday for you to steal.

About our last weekend in North Italy:

  • 2 hotel nights (180 € for 2)
  • 8 travel hours: 4 train rides (130 €/person)
  • 60,000 steps in 3 days (health benefits of sightseeing)
  • 2,000 years of history, art and architecture (mostly free)
  • plenty of pasta and prosciutto (delicious meals 7-15 €)
  • daily gelato o'clock (3 flavours for 3-4 €)
  • afternoon aperitif (a glass of quality wine 4-7 €)
  • endless cuddles for relationship care
  • 1 tango milonga (10 €/person)
  • 1 happy wife (priceless!)

Tired and happy after walking 23,000 steps around Venice

We booked the trains (trenitalia.com) and hotels (hotels.com) only the night before but I'd recommend making travel plans at least a couple of days earlier.

Where do you want to vacation next?

I can highly recommend our latest 3: Verona, Venezia and Bologna. We saw plenty in a day and left things for return...

But there's a long list... so many places to explore, right?!

So how about combining work and travel or living abroad?
