  2. Transistors: Transistors are three-terminal semiconductor devices that can amplify or switch electronic signals and electrical power. There are two main types of transistors: bipolar junction transistors (BJTs) and field-effect transistors (FETs). Transistors are fundamental building blocks in electronic circuits, used in amplifiers, oscillators, digital logic circuits, and many other applications.
  3. Thyristors: Thyristors are four-layer semiconductor devices with three or more terminals. They are commonly used as solid-state switches for high-power applications, such as motor control, lighting control, and power supplies. Types of thyristors include silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCRs), triacs, and gate turn-off thyristors (GTOs).
  4. MOSFETs (Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistors): MOSFETs are a type of FET that uses a metal oxide insulator layer between the gate and the semiconductor material. They are widely used in power electronics and integrated circuits due to their high switching speed, low on-resistance, and high input impedance.
  5. BJTs (Bipolar Junction Transistors): BJTs are transistors consisting of three semiconductor regions: the emitter, base, and collector. They are commonly used in analog circuits such as amplifiers and as switches in digital circuits.
  6. Photodiodes and Phototransistors: These are semiconductor devices that convert light into electrical current. Photodiodes are used in various applications such as optical communication systems, light sensors, and photovoltaic power generation. Phototransistors, which amplify the current produced by incident light, are used in similar applications.
  7. Zener Diodes: Zener diodes are specialized diodes designed to operate in the reverse breakdown region, maintaining a nearly constant voltage across the device. They are commonly used as voltage regulators and voltage reference sources in electronic circuits.
