The seven pillars of self-care!

Self-care is important to make sure that we don’t tire ourselves out and become too stressed or ill. You are the life and soul of your business so if you aren’t feeling happy and successful then neither will your business.

There are many ways you can practice self-care but if you need help finding a well-balanced routine then try incorporating the seven pillars of self-care into your daily life.

1. Mental

Taking time away from technology is a great way to decompress and improve mindfulness. Try meditation or journaling to give your brain a break or get things off your mind.

2. Emotional

Create healthy coping strategies to deal with any stressful situations that may arise. You can do this by listening to music, asking for help when needed or writing positive affirmations for yourself.

3. Physical

Make sure you take care of your body with a healthy diet, plenty of rest and daily exercise. Try recording how much water you drink, getting out of the office on your lunch break for a walk and/or going to sleep an hour earlier than usual.

4. Environmental

Having a nice working environment can improve the way you feel and improve your productivity. Try rearranging your workspace and decluttering it at the end of the day so you are ready to start fresh in the morning. When out of the office, try exploring new places that will appeal to your five senses.

5. Spiritual

Find an activity that gives you a sense of meaning. This could be volunteering at a local charity, joining in with community activities or even spending time in nature.

6. Recreational

Switch up your daily routine with hobbies and activities that interest you. You will gain instant gratification when spending time developing new skills and/or spending time with like-minded individuals.

7. Social

Creating and maintaining close relationships is a great way to practice self-care. You don’t need a large network of friends as just a few meaningful relationships can improve your well-being and provide you the opportunity to share your thoughts and feelings.

When you start to feel stressed or overwhelmed, refer to the seven pillars of self-care to make yourself feel better.
