The SingHealth President’s Challenge 2024 raises more than $1.31 million for the community

In its 20th year fundraising for the community, SingHealth has raised more than $1.31 million for the President’s Challenge 2024. The amount raised was announced at the SingHealth President’s Challenge (SHPC) 2024 Grand Finale event held at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) on 5 October 2024 with Guest-of-Honour President Tharman Shanmugaratnam in attendance.

The SHPC 2024 campaign was led by NCCS and themed “Igniting Hope through Compassion”. A whopping 33,000 SingHealth staff rallied to raise funds for the five adopted President’s Challenge benefitting organisations – Singapore Cancer Society , Singapore Hospice Council , SingHealth Fund, Ang Mo Kio- Thye Hua Kwan Hospital , and Shan You . Fundraising and outreach activities included a pledge card donation drive, charity bazaars, gashapon machines, engagement activities and outings with clients of the adopted benefitting organisations.

This year’s SHPC 2024 signature event, ‘SingHealth Lights Up Lives’, was held on 31 August at the Promontory @ Marina Bay and brought together staff, families and benefitting organisations for an evening of fun and fitness challenges. True to its name, a giant glittering heart was formed by participants’ mobile phone torchlights. The dazzling display secured an entry into the Singapore Book of Records!

Dr Eileen Poon , Chairman of the SingHealth President’s Challenge 2024 and Senior Consultant, Division of Medical Oncology, NCCS, shared that this year’s campaign aimed to promote an active and healthy lifestyle through fitness activities as it plays an important role in disease prevention, enhancing mental health and overall well-being. Dr Poon also expressed that fundraising was especially meaningful this year as NCCS marks its 25th anniversary and gratitude for support and contributions from colleagues, partners, and sponsors, who helped make the campaign a success.
