The Skive it® story: Our global journey to build machines that can feel
We are coming to an age where it is inevitable for robot companions to play an important role in human society. Robots that feel and evolve based on its owner adds another level of emotional engagement and variance to the human - robot relationship. Skive it® is building autonomous AI machines that can feel- The Robometrics® Machines, with a focus on general aviation today.
“Skive it® is developing the chip that will be the heart of the machines we build, it is the key to make the machines feel!”
Robometrics® Machines redefines the relationship that a machine can have with a human, whether it be a robot in healthcare, an aircraft or an autonomous car. We are building autonomous machines that can provide comfort to a 65 year old living alone, a humanized autonomous aircraft that can substitute for a copilot in the cockpit, or a companion to an astronaut for their long journey far beyond planet Earth.
Today, the Skive it® team is focused on continuing research and development (R&D) on our proprietary autonomous Deep Learning kernel and the physical interface for the Robometrics® Machines.
In the past, we have launched several consumer-facing products to give consumers a taste of what our technology is capable of and to validate the Robometrics® kernel . Available today Skive it Search (skive.it/search) makes it possible for consumers to search places based on style and mood as opposed to food and drinks. Skive it Scanner (skive.it/scanner) enables you to explore top attractions in a city virtually. It was first launched in some of major cities in the US followed by Europe and Asia. As an example, Skive it® was launched in Taiwan in 2017. Both Skive it® Search and Skive it ® Scanner allows travelers to search, explore, and experience their next travel destination by using certain categories based on mood and style. View the link below to allow our Skive It® Scanner tours of the Chiang-Kai-Shek Memorial Park! Yes, you can take a virtual tour around the park in Taipei, Taiwan from anywhere around the world. https://skive.it/scanner/taipei/Top-3-must-to-go-places-in-Chiang-Kai-shek-Memorial-Park-in-taipei.html
A search engine to find places based on style and mood is a good use case as shown by double digit growth for these products. After looking at the socio-economic impact Skive it® could make by extending our current state of art to build Robometrics® Machines, we decided to pursue further R&D in enterprise use cases that include autonomous cars as companions, social robotics, hospital care including robot companions for the aging population, smart homes and building humanized aircrafts. Robometrics® Machines as robot companions for the aging population aged 65+ helps address a critical need today for a vulnerable population in the world. COVID-19 has amplified this need many folds.
Skive it® and Healthcare
At the end of 2018, the Skive it® team traveled to India to research on how we can provide a solution for the ageing population with robots using our technology. According to an interview conducted by one of the Skive it® employees, an old woman from Mumbai mentioned that she would like companionship as there is a limited number of people who are willing to talk to the elderly. She later added: “Many old people go into depression when living alone, a companion could curb their depression”. Based on the collected results, several interviews conducted with the elderly and doctors, Skive it® decided to build a robot that can potentially be the companion to the aging population, the Robometrics® Machines for the elderly.
“The two women that we interviewed when we traveled to India, they were hoping that the robots can be their daily companion using our technology.”
Skive it® and Smart Homes
Skive it® 's Founder, Mr. Aditya Mohan proposed ‘Companion Home’ as the UK’s vision for 2030 neighborhoods of the future. This was published in the ‘Neighborhoods of the Future’ blueprint paper in collaboration with Tata Steel and the Agile Ageing Alliance (AAA) in the UK. The focus was on the revolutionary vision of the UK housing market. The blueprint was launched on January 21, 2019 in a reception held at the UK House of Lords, Palace of Westminster where all the authors including Mr. Mohan were invited.
Imagine a home that continuously evolves based on its interaction with you and external factors like the weather. Instead of you telling it what to do, it acts, learns and adapts for your optimal comfort.
The ‘Companion Home’ brings to light the idea of a home that continuously evolves based on its interactions with both those living within it and external factors such as the weather. Instead of manually changing the settings of the house, it learns and adapts independently for the optimal comfort of its dwellers.
“Skive it® ‘s Founder, Mr. Mohan, published an article about smart homes on the ‘Neighborhoods of the Future’ blueprint paper in collaboration with Tata Steel and the Agile Ageing Alliance (AAA) in the UK.”
Lord Best, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Housing and Care for Older People: ‘With a large ready-made market that the unimaginative house building industry is failing to address, there are massive opportunities for creating homes for everyone’
Aditya Mohan, Founder, Skive it® Inc: ‘Imagine a home that continuously evolves based on its interaction with you and external factors like the weather. Instead of telling it what to do, it acts, learns and adapts for your optimal comfort. Your home will not be a monolithic concrete structure, but a set of modular pods.’

Skive it® in China
Skive it® in November 2019 won the 13th Sino Italian Exchange held in Beijing. COO Yingying Li showcased Skive it®’s technology to build machines that can feel. We were awarded the title of “Spartacus Innovation Warrior”. The multicultural audience present resonated with our work, showing the global nature of what we are building.

As Mr. Mohan develops his Robometrics® chip, the potential avenues of autonomous AI systems that can feel become increasingly apparent, such as in the area of autonomous vehicles. In October 2019, the team, led by COO Yingying Li, visited Jaguar and Landrover sites in Shanghai as well as at the North American Smart-Tech Projects Roadshow. The Skive it® team are excited for the opportunities that can potentially arise to work with other aspirational partners and investors.

Skive it® and Aerospace
Currently, we are working on creating the future of air travel with a focus on general aviation. We are building a humanized autonomous aircraft that can be a substitute for a copilot in the cockpit.
"Skive it® Founder, Mr. Mohan with Daher TBM 940 at San Carlos Airport, California"
Our Founder, Mr. Mohan’s motivations encapsulate the notion of an aircraft as an evolving human being as opposed to a metal machine that can be a companion to the pilot. He seeks to transform aircrafts into human-like companions that will help us fly, give pilots company, and even take over flying if needed. Mr. Mohan has brought innovative and progressive thought in the area of general aviation to reimagine aircrafts, their relationship with the pilot owners and novel technologies from physical interfaces to AI with the goal to make flying safe and entice more women and younger people to be pilots. This led to Skive it® becoming the finalists for the Daher’s Innovation Challenge in partnership with Microsoft in fall of 2019, to create the next generation of user experience for Daher's single engine turboprop, the TBM aircrafts. Daher is a French aircraft manufacturer, who Skive it® has worked with to present the world’s first humanised aircraft with a personality by deploying a prototype version of Skive it® 's Robometrics® technology inside the Daher TBM 850 jet in San Carlos Airport, California.

On September 24th 2019, Skive it® announced the first aircraft that can feel, the Robometrics® Machines called Amelia™. This is a living machine, an aircraft that can feel. Amelia enables an evolving personality to the aircraft, and is the aircraft itself. Amelia will understand the feeling of the pilot with whom it is interacting and act proactively based on an evolving personality. Mr. Mohan stresses his company's continuation to work in transforming aerospace, and is looking for partnerships within the industry to develop a commercially viable product.
