Smart Cities Council Announces Smart Cities Week APAC Event

Smart Cities Council and Smart Cities Council - Asia Pacific are today pleased to formally announce the inaugural Smart Cities Week APAC Event that will take place in Adelaide, Australia August 5 – 9 2024.

SCC is collaborating with the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, Government of South Australia to host the high-profile global event across SA’s preeminent innovation places, including Lot Fourteen , Adelaide BioMed City, Tonsley Innovation District and Edinburgh Defence Precinct.

“South Australia’s innovation places, and surrounding venues, host some of the region’s premier public, private sector and non-government organisations, including Australian Cyber Collaboration Center, Australian Space Agency, Stone & Chalk , Australian Institue for Machine Learning, and the MIT Living Lab, and as Adelaideans leading the world’s largest and longest standing Social Impact Organisation for Smart Cities, Smart Buildings and Technology” said Corey Gray , Global President of Smart Cities Council and Tom Pennington , Global Vice President.

“We could not be more pleased to be hosting the world in our home town. Adelaide and South Australia has so much to offer the world in technology and innovation, and in many ways lead it.”

This marquee global event is part of SCC’s annual Global Events’ Tour that in 2024 includes Bogota, Kreutzlingen, Sydney, Abu Dhabi, New York, Auckland, Marrakech, Las Vegas, Tulum, and Zurich.

Smart Cities Week features many of SCC’s Global Thought Leaders, who are, in their fields, the preeminent thinkers of today. Invited speakers include:

·       Digital trust, anti-corruption, anti-money laundering and cybersecurity advisor to the US State Department, Junaid Islam

·       Former US police chief and data chain of custody advisor to the FBI, Steve Cercone

·       SCC Regional Lead -ASEAN and Partner of UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme) Cities Investment Program, Kok-Chin Tay ,

Smart Cities Week will feature an extensive program spanning a variety of domain verticals and technology technologies, that bring together global thought leaders, industry experts, and key stakeholders to explore and advance smart city initiatives.

The domain verticals for Smart Cities Week APAC 2024 include Health and Aged Care, Transport and Mobility, Data, Digital Equity, and Digital Connectivity, Smart, Safe & Sustainable Buildings & Infrastructure, Regional Communities, Energy, Resources, and Environment, Finance & Funding, Safety, Security, Resilience & Disaster Preparedness, Tourism, Sustainability, Space, Defence, Capital Investment and Startups, Trade and Investment, Cybersecurity, Privacy & Data Protection, and Youth Leadership. Additionally, the technology verticals encompass Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Augmented, Mixed & Virtual Reality, Autonomous Mobility, Blockchain, Digital Infrastructure, Digital Twins, and IoT.  

The event will include a World Day, including a large number of global trade and investment organizations from the over 50 countries in which SCC is active, including ASEAN, APAC, EU, Sub-Saharan Africa, MENA, LATAM, United Kingdom & Ireland and North America.

Additionally, SCC is bringing a first of its kind global program focused upon Indigenous communities, and regional communities, and will feature both youth engagement and charity and philanthropy tracks.
