Some Discombobulations (With apologies to Lewis Carroll

He thought he saw a circumstance,

that needed notifying:

He looked again and found it was

an Underwriter crying.

"What to make of this?" he mused,

"It's very mystifying."

He thought he saw a contribution

claim recovery:

He looked again and found it was

a case of barratry.

"This insurance stuff", he said,

"leaves me all at sea."

He thought he saw a COVID-19

Business Interruption:

He looked again and found it was

a nationwide disruption.

"The one thing I regret", he said,

"is legal misconstruction."

She saw a subrogated claim

in search of equity:

She watched it fail for absence of

a full indemnity.

"Good Lord!" she thought, "that easily

could happen next to me!"

She thought a reinsurance clause

required collaboration:

It winked at her and turned into

a treaty commutation.

"It's hard to deal with this", she thought,

"without exasperation."

She thought she saw a loss adjuster

eating a frittata:

She looked again and found it was

Lloyds Open Salvage Charter.

"But getting terms agreed", she thought,

"will be a real non-starter."

He thought he saw a policy

with standard claims-made trigger

He looked again and found it was

an IBNR figure.

"I rather think", he said aloud,

"it should be somewhat bigger."

He thought he saw a Warranty,

with intricate chapeau:

He looked again and found it was

a closed claim bordereau.

"How this should be construed", he said,

"I really wouldn't know."

She thought she saw an Underwriter,

sitting on a Box:

She looked again and found it was

the Vernal Equinox.

"I have to say", she told herself,

"that's quite unorthodox."

She thought she saw a betterment,

upon a household claim:

She looked again and found it was

her mother's maiden name.

"At least I know for sure", she said,

"these two are not the same."

They thought they saw a way ahead,

through mess that meaning muddies:

They found it was the Australian

College of Insurance Studies.

"We'd best enrol at once!", they said,

"Ourselves and all our buddies."
