Space, time and the human mind

"Time and space are not conditions in which we live, but modes by which we think." -Albert Einstein

This is an attempt to discuss primarily time and its effect of the human mind. Like most of my articles the genesis of this one come from one of my many questions. What is time?, Does it really exist, Is it real?, Why do we need it?. Now, I'm not a theoretical physicist but this is merely an attempt to understand it from a lay person's perspective.

Well here is a scientific explanation?

Let's take space for example, we can move forwards, backwards, sideways etc. just about any direction is possible. On the other hand with time we just move forward there is no looking back just like a unidirectional arrow. It is what we call a linear existence.

We decide where we choose to exist.

We normally reference time with respect to measurement. Being on time, being late, fix an appointment, age of a person etc. Could we function without time? Well, if I chose to function without time I would not know my age which would be really cool :) I probably would not know about ageing unless my body would indicate so, maybe not knowing my age would actually be a positive and I could function even better in this state. On the other hand, imagine trying to reach out to a person with no time reference for a work related discussion. You would call the person when the thought occurred to you and the person would answer depending on whether they would be available or not. We have created a system where everything is measurable and we are dependant of time.

I look at my pet dog or my trees in the garden, they have no concept of time. They just exist. Maybe in this state of being, they just consume what they need. Maybe, we are in the state of having a past, thinking about the future, we spend less time just being, being in the present.

Stay in the now of your being, appreciate the joy it brings and accept its defeats and sorrows as well. Remember you decide, you choose where you want to be.

Peace, love & joy :)
