Spatial 3D Model (S3M) Data Service Interface

Spatial 3D Model (S3M) Data Service Interface

The continuous innovation and development of spatial three-dimensional data acquisition methods have made the sources of three-dimensional data more extensive, more diverse, and more accurate. With the gradual accumulation of massive multi-source 3D data, the application fields of 3D geographic information systems are also expanding. However, due to different technical means and application fields, there are "barriers" in data exchange and data sharing for various types of 3D data, and efficient release of data cannot be achieved.

Therefore, in September 2017, SuperMap open-sourced the S3M format for data sharing and interoperability on GitHub. On August 31, 2019, the T/CAGIS 1-2019 "Spatial 3D Model Data Format" (S3M) standard was officially implemented, providing open, standard and common data for the sharing and interoperability of spatial 3D data between different application systems format specification.

In the actual promotion process, SuperMap provides a large number of free and open data reading and writing toolkits and rich data format conversion tools, and solves massive multi-source heterogeneous spatial 3D data such as oblique photography models, laser point clouds, and BIM from the data level. At present, a large number of oblique photography modeling software (including Shenzhen Zhuke Altizure, Dongfang Daoer P3BJet, Dashi Wisdom Reconstruction Master GET3D, Kanjing Technology Smart3D 2019, DJI Terra), front-end visualization software and game engines (including Ventuz, etc.) ), have supported the docking of the S3M data format standard. For example, Ventuz (China) Co., Ltd., the Chinese agent of the game engine Ventuz, has completed the connection between Ventuz and S3M. Through the S3M data format standard, Ventuz can load GIS data in S3M format and use the GIS data as the base map of the game.

Therefore, a large number of users have formed around the S3M data format standard. However, various manufacturers, especially visualization manufacturers, further put forward new requirements: in addition to local access to S3M data, can S3M data services be accessed online?

Therefore, in September 2019, SuperMap submitted a standard project application to the Group Standard Management Committee of China Geographic Information Industry Association. In October of the same year, the Group Standard Management Committee of China Geographic Information Industry Association officially approved the project approval. After multiple stages of drafting, soliciting opinions, and submitting for review, the group standard of "Spatial 3D Model Data Service Interface" was approved on August 10, 2020. The review by the expert group with Deputy General Manager Wang Dan as Deputy Director of the Academy Co., Ltd. The experts agreed that: "This standard is advanced in technology, complete in content, clear in expression, standardized in format, strong in practicability and operability, and fills the gap in the standard of spatial 3D model data service interface."

On September 7, 2020, after being reviewed and approved by the China Geographic Information Industry Association, the T/CAGIS 2-2020 "Spatial 3D Model Data Service Interface" group standard (hereinafter referred to as the "Standard") was released, and it will start on October 7, 2020 officially implemented.

  1. What does the standard specify?

The standard specifies the spatial 3D model data service interface corresponding to T/CAGIS 1-2019, specifies the basic requirements, overall framework and interface definition of the spatial 3D model data service, and is applicable to oblique photographic models that meet T/CAGIS 1-2019, Web publishing and access of multi-source heterogeneous space 3D model data such as point cloud, manual modeling data, building information model (BIM), 3D pipeline, 2D/3D point, line and surface, etc., supporting the interconnection and mutual access between application systems operate.

The S3M data service interface is designed according to the REST style in comparison with the S3M data organization structure. The standard formulates the access interfaces of four types of S3M data files (description files, data files, index tree files and attribute files).

  1. Standard technical features and advantages

This standard is a supporting standard of the S3M data standard and an important guarantee for the smooth promotion and application of the S3M data standard. It has unique advantages in the support and openness of multi-source heterogeneous data types.

Based on the S3M data format standard and data service interface standard, SuperMap has formed a complete B/S and C/S 3D GIS application solution, solving the problems of users in multiple links from data generation, service release to various client loading applications. Practical problems.

  1. These units participate in the preparation of standards

The standard was proposed by the China Geographic Information Industry Association and drafted by SuperMap. SuperMap, together with the Information Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the National Basic Geographic Information Center, China Urban Planning and Design Institute, Shanghai Institute of Surveying and Mapping, Shenzhen Planning Land and Real Estate Information Center, and the Yellow River Survey, Planning and Design Institute Co., Ltd., drafted and compiled the the standard.

  1. Standards promote service publishing and data sharing of 3D data

The release of the standard will promote the standardization process of service publishing and data sharing of spatial 3D model data. By providing web access interfaces for cloud services and edge services, desktops and mobile terminals, it will open up spatial 3D model data between different application systems. Sharing provides a standard basis and contributes to the construction of real-scene 3D China and digital twin cities.

An open data format means that any 3D data provider and 3D data receiver can support docking. The open data service interface means that any application system can use a unified data service interface to realize the publishing and sharing of 3D data. If the S3M data format standard and data service interface standard are adopted at the same time, various multi-source heterogeneous data in various GIS applications, such as BIM, manual modelling data, oblique photographic models, etc., can be generated in S3M format through the S3M data format standard The data can then be released through the server. With the help of the open "Spatial 3D Model Data Service Interface" standard, each terminal (PC, browser, mobile, VR, AR) can access S3M online. data service.
