The Spiritual Blessings in The Heavenly Realm - Insights on Ephesians 1:3

“He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?”

Introduction

Today’s scripture, Ephesians 1:3, opens up a perspective on the divine blessings God has stored up for believers. Written by Paul to the Ephesian church, this scripture emphasizes that every spiritual blessing from the heavenly realm is available to us while we live on earth. God’s heavenly storehouse holds these blessings, fully accessible to all who believe. These blessings are not distant or reserved only for eternity; rather, they are provisions for our earthly lives, meant to empower, equip, and sustain us as we walk with God.

Paul’s words are deeply relevant for today’s believers, reminding us that our spiritual resources are not limited by earthly circumstances. Instead, they flow from the heavenly realm, freely given by God and activated through our relationship with Christ. These blessings provide what we need to live in alignment with God’s purposes, helping us to overcome challenges, grow, and not just exist, but thrive with divine support. Make sure we always give Glory to whom it is more than due, God!. For believers, this scripture calls us to recognize and rely on these heavenly blessings that are already promised and available to us.

Now Let’s Eat Some Meat!

Ephesians 1:3 (AMP): "Blessed and worthy of praise be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ."

Context of Ephesians 1:3

Paul begins his letter by acknowledging the richness of God’s blessings, which are stored up in the heavenly realm yet accessible to believers on earth. These blessings encompass salvation, guidance, strength, peace, and wisdom—gifts that go beyond material provisions and equip us for spiritual growth. In Ephesus, a city known for its wealth, commerce, and dedication to other gods, Paul’s message would have shifted the focus of believers from material wealth to the true riches found in God’s spiritual blessings.

Paul emphasizes that these blessings are available through our relationship with Jesus. They aren’t earned by our efforts; they are granted by God’s grace. For believers today, this message is a reminder that God has already supplied us with the resources we need, providing spiritual as well as material sustenance, wisdom, and support from His heavenly storehouse.

Key Phrase: "Blessed and worthy of praise be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Paul begins with a call to praise, directing honor to God as the source of all blessings. This phrase reminds us to adopt a posture of gratitude and worship, acknowledging that our blessings are directly from God. Here, Paul connects our blessings to the Father’s relationship with Christ, showing that through Christ’s work, we have access to everything God has prepared for us.

This opening line is an invitation to believers to recognize that these blessings stem from God’s generosity and love. As the ultimate Giver, God is worthy of our praise and thanks, and our response should reflect our appreciation for His provision. This praise acknowledges that our blessings are not self-made but divinely provided. Remember, James 1:17 (AMP), “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens],...”

Key Phrase: "Who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing."

Paul specifies that God has blessed us with “every spiritual blessing,” encompassing a wide range of gifts from His heavenly storehouse. These blessings are spiritual in nature, extending beyond earthly gains to meet the needs of our souls and spirits. Each blessing works together to equip us for a full life of faith and strengthens us in our relationship with God.

These blessings from the heavenly realm include:

  1. Salvation: Our relationship with God begins with the gift of salvation, allowing us to receive His grace and forgiveness. “For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God;” Ephesians 2:8 (AMP)
  2. Wisdom and Knowledge: God provides wisdom and discernment, helping us to understand His will and navigate life with clarity. “If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5 (AMP)
  3. Inner Peace: God’s peace guards our hearts, bringing comfort and stability in times of uncertainty. “And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].”  Philippians 4:7 (AMP)
  4. Strength and Power: We are empowered to face challenges, strengthened by the Holy Spirit’s presence in our lives. “May He grant you out of the riches of His glory, to be strengthened and spiritually energized with power through His Spirit in your inner self, [indwelling your innermost being and personality],”  Ephesians 3:16 (AMP)
  5. Unity with Other Believers: Spiritual blessings create bonds among believers, allowing us to support one another. “For just as the body is one and yet has many parts, and all the parts, though many, form [only] one body, so it is with Christ.” 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 (AMP)
  6. Guidance and Direction: Through the Holy Spirit, God provides direction, leading us in paths aligned with His purpose. “But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth [full and complete truth]. For He will not speak on His own initiative, but He will speak whatever He hears [from the Father—the message regarding the Son], and He will disclose to you what is to come [in the future].” John 16:13 (AMP)
  7. Fruit of the Spirit: Traits like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control grow in us, reflecting God’s character. “But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 (AMP)
  8. Eternal Inheritance: We have the assurance of eternal life, a promise that fuels hope and courage. “And if [we are His] children, [then we are His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His spiritual blessing and inheritance], if indeed we share in His suffering so that we may also share in His glory” Romans 8:17 (AMP)

Each of these blessings flows from God’s heavenly realm, providing divine resources that transform our earthly lives. They are not limited by time or place; rather, they are readily available to believers who draw from God’s abundance, through faith in the Name of Jesus, by grace. Key Phrase: "In the heavenly realms."

The phrase “in the heavenly realms” emphasizes that these blessings originate from a realm beyond earthly limitations. Stored in God’s heavenly realm, these blessings are infinite and unaffected by earthly scarcity. They remain unchanging and available to believers at all times, given through God’s Spirit. For believers, this means that our spiritual resources are not vulnerable to earthly change or loss; they are stable and enduring.

This assurance is especially comforting for those who feel overwhelmed by life’s demands or uncertainties. Since our blessings are anchored in the heavenly realm, they provide a steady source of strength, encouragement, and guidance. Believers can live with confidence, knowing that God’s provision is unending and perfectly suited to every need.

Key Phrase: "In Christ."

Paul concludes the verse by emphasizing that these blessings are available “in Christ,” underscoring that our access to God’s heavenly storehouse is rooted in our relationship with Jesus. This phrase reminds believers that every spiritual blessing comes through our union with Christ. Our connection to Him is the key that unlocks God’s provision, allowing us to experience the fullness of His blessings.

For believers today, this truth highlights the importance of remaining in Christ, drawing near to Him, and seeking His presence. In Him, we find everything we need to fulfill God’s purpose, guided and strengthened by His Spirit. Our blessings flow from Christ’s life, death, and resurrection, anchoring us in God’s eternal plan and empowering us to live out His calling.

John 15:5 (AMP): "I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for [otherwise] apart from Me [that is, cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing."

This scripture complements Ephesians 1:3, emphasizing that our relationship with Christ is the foundation for accessing God’s blessings.

Relevance to Today’s Believers

For today’s believers, Ephesians 1:3 offers a reminder that God’s resources are more than abundant, and they are stored in His heavenly realm for us. These blessings are not distant or withheld; they are accessible through our relationship with Christ. Knowing that God has blessed us with “every spiritual blessing” encourages believers to rely on Him, especially in times of need. Instead of feeling limited by earthly resources, we are invited to draw from God’s abundance, which is unaffected by the world’s circumstances.

This verse also challenges believers to live with confidence, knowing that we lack nothing in Christ. As a matter of fact, I’ve read a pre-King James translation of Psalm 23:1 that read “The Lord is my Shepherd and I shall not suffer lack”.  Each blessing from God’s heavenly storehouse is meant to empower, guide, and sustain us. We are called to recognize the spiritual riches we possess, allowing these blessings to shape our attitudes, decisions, relationships, and actions. By understanding the scope of God’s provision, believers can face life’s challenges with resilience and hope, anchored in the knowledge that God has already provided all we need.

What It Means to Access God’s Storehouse.

Accessing God’s storehouse means embracing His provision in every area of life.

While today’s focus is on recognizing our blessings in the heavenly realm, this understanding forms the working foundation for a life of faith. Embracing these blessings requires faith and a willingness to rely on God’s Spirit. Each blessing equips us to live in alignment with God’s purpose, offering strength, wisdom, and peace in every circumstance. This reliance on God’s provision fosters a life of gratitude, purpose, and confidence, empowering believers to fulfill God’s calling with assurance.

2 Peter 1:3 (AMP): "For His divine power has bestowed on us [absolutely] everything necessary for [a dynamic spiritual] life and godliness, through true and personal knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence."

This scripture reinforces the message in Ephesians 1:3, emphasizing that God’s provision is complete, providing every spiritual resource we need.

Summary

In Ephesians 1:3, Paul celebrates the spiritual blessings that God has stored in His heavenly realm for every believer. These blessings encompass salvation, strength, wisdom, peace, guidance, unity, fruits of the Spirit, and the eternal inheritance—gifts that equip us to live victoriously and confidently on earth. For today’s believers, this scripture offers an invitation to recognize and embrace the fullness of God’s provision, reminding us that we lack nothing in Christ. These blessings from God’s heavenly storehouse empower us to grow in faith and fulfill our purpose with confidence.

Living in the fullness of God’s blessings involves recognizing His provision and relying on His Spirit. Let Ephesians 1:3 encourage you to approach life with gratitude and trust, knowing that God’s heavenly storehouse has provided everything you need for a fulfilling life of faith and purpose.

Let us now to return to the farms of old..... and reject this "stakeholder" capitalism that publishes nominal rates of inflation from 3 subsidized markets in energy, transportation and agriculture, disguising runaway inflation, to the tune of 10% per annum in land, homes, cars, plant, equipment and more since coming off the gold standard in 1971 (a home, a car in 1971 cost $14,000 $ $1,2oo respectively, today that home, that car cost $1.5 Million & $60k) Let us now outlaw this corporate form, that knows no boundaries.. destroying all that we love, and let us instead, embrace God's chosen people, Native Americans, our Lost Tribes of Israel, as described by many folks including William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, Dr. James Adair, a physician, who lived among Native Americans for forty years; describing them to be Hebrew in culture, language, diet, customs, ceremonies and 26 fundamental ways Let us now to invert the hierarchy of power in government, that elected officials would to become spokespersons only; that we would stop this corporate takeover, as we sign away our freedoms, our constitutional rights to the corporations..
