From sceptic to believer - The transformative power of coaching

I was 7 years into my teaching career and in my first middle leadership position when I was first introduced to coaching. I had no idea what to expect. I was sceptical - which I was told many people are at first but “don’t worry; he works magic”, “he’ll blow your mind”.

So, I went to my first session and, indeed, lightbulb moments appeared. The coach was skilled at making me feel comfortable enough to share, asking questions that got to the heart of issues.

Even when I was reluctant to share, he found a way without making me feel uncomfortable. The coaching relationship grew, but what was even more significant was how I was able to implement new strategies, build relationships and grow in confidence in my new role. I was no longer sceptical, I was a believer!
