Is Strategy a straight line?

Its a no brainer to state that strategy plays a big role in defining the long term success of any organization. I think Strategy can be divided as ;

  1. Formulate the idea of what it is
  2. Define the strategy
  3. Communicate it across stake holders
  4. Manage the change

In the formation stage someone could define and set the direction. The most difficult part in the overall process is to ensure all stakeholders are communicated and made them to believe in it by the rule and spirit.

The vital difference between successful strategy Vs not so is, how well it got percolated down. Below are few characteristics of a good strategy;

  • Clear to understand
  • Crisp and Concise to remember or relate
  • Durable across years

The beauty of successful strategist is that they just don't limit themselves by defining the strategy but they are good communicators of context behind the strategy.

Popular perception towards Strategy is its more of a static and a kind of straight line, however it is dynamic in nature by way of providing context behind it.

In a simple word an ardent leader know how to make the strategy as a "Way of Life" than few lines displayed in the organization. Having focus on culture require long term vision.

Strategy without focus on culture is a kind of SPIRIT without the BODY. Very few organizations or leaders know the beauty behind it.

Having constant focus on the culture and setting context if necessary altering the execution can bring the best results.
