Breaking the barriers!

Breaking the barriers!

Hope you might have come across “Kill your complacency” from tons of motivational, leadership speeches and books. Did you ever experience it at first hand?

It’s fun to jump from the shields of an expert in a domain to dropping to be a novice. Just to overly state the situation, it is something like Jack ma or Bill gates becoming a layman overnight feeling!. Interesting right?

Each time you make a shift in the career (after you spent at least 5 years), you are sailing to an uncharted territory and need to have humbleness to become a novice. Suddenly you fall from the helm of expertise to be a new starter. You are pushed to accept the fact that you are dependent on others to gain the knowledge and contribute. Just to make it simple, It’s a journey that you start from being a giver to becoming a seeker.

It is obvious that world value or show respect to the experts than someone new to the field. The real battle is to build the know-how, gain the knowledge, build the skill and add value. How to do it? this is the billion-dollar discovery. It’s a natural and the very basic survival instinct that we derive from our animal kingdom plays a huge role. I think, its one of the ways you hone your best tool, the SURVIVAL instinct again and again.

It is a quite interesting journey to reset your counters and start from the ZERO. You will realize the value of learning, relationships, support system and progressing along with others. This is sometimes forced by external factors and at times it is driven from your choices. It happened for me to make such choices thrice and become an expert in handling it! 😊

Facing such, you may think you are gone! wait a minute. What you really get out of the situation is to be able to bring value to the table with diverse thought process. There are humpty stories in the wild to highlight the immense value that a diverse workforce brings to the table and the most complex issues resolved by them.

The other motivator that contributes for the shift is not just money, at times the opportunities to learn, grow in responsibilities and contribute to others.

It’s a call that someone wants to be a surfer(wave rider) or simply a highway driver(smooth sailing). Both are two different paths and suits to different personalities. Choice is yours!

Thank you.
