Do you Suffer from High Blood Pressure?

High Blood Pressure can be caused by excess weight, kidney problems, a hormonal imbalance especially an adrenal gland malfunction, anxiety, stress and suffering emotionally.

 Foods that can help are:

 Water (almost all blood pressure medication mimic the effects of increased water intake states Dr Whitaker, water relaxes your entire system, including your arteries and tight, constricted arteries are the main cause of high blood pressure, he recommends 15 x 8oz glasses of water a day one each hour you are awake)

 Potassium rich foods as they lower your sodium levels i.e. a bananas a day together with 5 servings of other high potassium fruit and veg (apricots, cantaloupe melon, kiwifruit, mangoes, nectarines, watermelon, avocados, grapefruit juice, oranges, papayas, pomegranates, prune juice and raisins – Swiss chard, celery, spinach, parsley, watercress, endive, kohlrabi, broccoli, tomato juice, cucumbers, cauliflower, asparagus, artichokes, potatoes, sweet potatoes and winter squash (if you have kidney disease, high levels of potassium can be harmful, so speak to your doctor before increasing your intake of potassium rich foods) they are also a great source of fibre another factor in getting the blood pressure down.

Fresh fruit & vegetables, oily fish i.e. sardines, salmon, mackerel etc but NOT smoked, pickled or salted. Celery, garlic, Brown unpolish rice (restores the elasticity to the blood vessels), low fat cottage cheese, salads, quark, buckwheat

Foods that harm are:

Salty foods, added salt, pickled foods, fats especially saturated fats, excessive alcohol, avoid the added salt found in store brought bread, cheese and breakfast cereals, highly processed foods and sugar

 Do not add salt to your food at the table
