Surat - The Hub of Trade, Technology and Innovation

Surat - The Hub of Trade, Technology and Innovation

Surat has always been a hub of opportunities having ample of scope for growth and development. Surat, the city of diamonds and textiles has been my Karma Bhumi for 60 years and this land has blessed me with the opportunities to grow my business that exists today. When I first came to Surat I was amazed by the grandness of the city and that it was beyond my imagination. Coming from a small village of Dudhala I had never seen the buildings that were the size of Surat Fort and today the city boasts a sustainable infrastructure.

The Government of India has launched the Growth Hub initiative with an aim to accelerate the economic region across various regions of the country and I am happy that Surat economic region (which consists of Surat, Bharuch, Navsari, Dang, Valsad and Tapi) is one of them. Since the past, Surat has held an important part for trade between the nations because of its strategic location. With God’s grace, Surat has seen the mega infrastructural projects, one being the SURAT DIAMOND BOURSE (SDB) which is a part of the DREAM (Diamond Research and Mercantile) City Project and many such other projects which will help Gujarat in achieving the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat.

Surat has been a leader in sustainability because of the innovation in EV and the solar energy which is the new tomorrow. As I come from a farming family, I have known the importance and the need of using the renewable sources of energy to preserve our environment. It is due to these initiatives that Surat has been one of the cleanest cities of India and also secured first position in Swachch Vayu Survekshan (National Clean Air City) done by the Union Government. Being a farmer’s son, I feel happy that the government is planning to build clusters for natural farming which will be helpful to the farmers.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra Patel remarked meaningfully that, “Just as Gujarat is the growth engine of India, Surat is the growth engine of Gujarat.” I feel that Surat has become the hub of trade, technology and transformation.

I feel proud that NITI Aayog (National Institution for transforming India), the country’s policy making institution to encourage economic growth, gave the development project in South Gujarat. Since generations, Gujarat has been the state for businesses. I believe that to achieve this vision we need to build a brand and today’s young generation of Gujarat is capable and skilled enough to do the same. In my opinion, the people of Gujarat and the upcoming generation will fulfil the Government’s vision of becoming a state that will compete with other developed nations of the world.

To develop Surat Economic Region into a World Class “Growth Hub” (G-Hub) by year 2047, NITI Aayog prepared the Economic Master Plan. I feel blessed to have got a chance to attend the launching event of Economic Master Plan of Surat Economic region which was in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra bhai Patel and Honorable Union Minister, Shri C.R. Patil and other esteemed dignitaries gave a very detailed explanation about the projects that would transform Surat. I am thankful to have been able to be a part of this wonderful event.
